I used to be able to practice by speaking into my microphone and compare my responses to the instructor's. Now all it does is offer a download where I can here it only. What happened?

I seem to be able to do what you say you used to do. I would use the help and support option and they will help you solve your problem.

I've had that problem a couple of times, but after I close Rocket Spanish and come back again it usually seems to work.

I have noticed this at times as well. I am glad it seems to be working for you now, however I suspect that often the links are not functioning on the "Rocket" end.
