Sur o Sud

Can anyone explain the different uses of "sud y sur"?

Hola! Sur and Sud are both used to define "the south"...in spanish we , for example have the words...."America del sur" and "Sudamerica"...both mean "South america" and the first one literally means "America from the south or southern America".... I will recommend you to use always the word "SUR" , but again, "SUD" its a correct word. saludos desde Mexico!
