Find out what actual users have to say about our courses through their Rocket Italian reviews.
I use this in conjunction with Babbel and find the two very complementary.
Babbel is better with disciplining me to learn verb conjugations and tenses and Rocket Italian is great for driving improved hearing, reading and pronunciation.
I am using Rocket Italian as a review to the Italian I studied "Molti anni fa" in college so that I can be more fluent and approachable when I travel. I like the pace and the ability to skip around. However, the American accent of Alex is distracting and there is too much spoken English. I can see if a beginner is trying to get traction it might be okay. I am looking forward to moving up into the later levels. Overall, hearing so much English and the English accent is distracting. There are also some grammar errors in the translations along the way. For the price, I would expect more flawless execution. However overall, I like the conversational approach and the ability to hop around to get what I need to progress.
I find Alessando’s dumbing down side comments unnecessary and interrupts concentration. Childish, tedious and unprofessional. Thank you.
There are so many apps available so I thought I would explore this one. I did find it very user friendly and it invites you to take part. Learning can be a chore and Italian is difficult. The tips were very useful too. I hope I can achieve a better understanding.
I prefer more grammar rules and explanations starting out. So far the program is very basic. More vocabulary would be better.
Early days yet. I can read Italian, more-or-less, because I learned Latin up to A-Level and speak reasonable French and basic Spanish. But the Rocket course, so far, looks like what I need if we're going to fulfill our ambition of renting an apartment in Venice for two or three months in 2022. You can't just go and live in another country on the basis that you'll shout at the locals in English.
As to the star ratings, however, there should be a category for 'Not applicable'. Having bought Rocket Italian I don't need to buy it again and I haven't yet had need of customer service - so I'm giving those one star.
Non va bene avere istruzioni in inglese invece d' italiano. Anche, questo è un sito per imparare bene l'italiano e si usa una persona, Charlie, che non ha per niente una pronuncia buona in italiano. Ridicolo!
It may be just because I'm early in the lessons (lesson 1 still) but there seems to be a lot of English in the audio portions and not much of me practicing Italian. Also, the dialoguie is a bit "cutesy". Finally, I find the on-going transcript to be very distracting. Seeing the dialog spelled out detracts from my having to recall the Italian words and phrases. Maybe this will get better as I get deeper into the course.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi there, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that there are aspects of the course that you are not enjoying. We appreciate your feedback as we are always trying to make the course better. We have passed this on to the Italian team for their consideration. All the best!
I like that so much of the exercises use audio. Too many language teachers end up teaching how to read a language, but put very little emphasis on speaking and comprehension. I also really like the dictation exercises, mostly because they give me practice in comprehension of spoken Spanish.
I am enjoying learning Italian for my trip and it seems to make sense so far. Not sure of the customer service because I have not had to use it and cant choose stars based on use so I choose a one star. Sorry, hate fake stat boosting. I can say the search functionality is trash. I tried to search a simple word such as "Tomorrow" and it came up with no results. I have a feeling I will learn much and be happier than I would with Rosetta.
