The lessons are far too long. I like to finish a lesson in one sitting but they are so long, it's impossible. I groan when I see the flashcards with 70 entries. There is no sense of accomplishment. I tend to avoid starting lessons because it seems like drudgery trying to get through them and that isn't a good way to learn. So yes , I am disappointed in my purchase. I had high hopes . I had previously done the 'Spanish with Paul' lessons. They had they're shortcomings too but I felt the lessons were a better length and I stuck with them and learned a lot more.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Rick, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you are finding the lessons too long. Here at Rocket Languages we want to ensure that all our linguistic content is comprehensive and in-depth, but we are also aware that motivation and a sense of accomplishment is critical to learning. As such, your suggestion regarding the flashcards has been passed on to our Product Development team. In the meantime, you might have a better experience with our more interactive reinforcement activities like "Hear It! Say It!" All the best with your Spanish language learning!
Although Rocket Languages tells a good story, waiting 2 days for an answer to a question is ridiculous! For this reason alone I could not in good
conscience recommend it to someone learning their first foreign language

I like the format and emphasis on spoken language in the Rocket languages online courses. However, I was disappointed in Rocket Spanish because it is totally geared towards younger travellers going to South America, whereas I am an older person spending a few weeks in Spain. There was very little clear advice as to differences in pronunciation, grammar or vocabulary for the language as spoken in Spain - just occasional references. There were no systematic examples of polite conversation with an older person such as a hostess or landlady. I spent a lot of time trying to work out the polite forms of the questions and answers for the ones included in the lessons but had no way of checking whether my attempts were correct. There was no list of days of the week or months of the year which I got from a dictionary but it would have been good to have them included in more of the conversations - they're pretty basic.
The 3 rated review was not from the content in the program. I feel the lessons are terrific. However, I would like to see a company recommended approach to beginning study in the program. I began by doing the lessons one at a time. Is there a better way or are there some other alternative approaches. Would appreciate your assistance.
Not sure if I'm only getting 'Lesson 1' as a trial, because if that's all there it is, it's quite limited. If there are more lessons to come, then I might consider purchasing it. However, with what I've seen so far, it leaves me 'wanting.'
The beginner's course is good. The intermediate course is ok; but, not as good as the beginner's course. The Platinum (advanced course) is poorly done. In the Platinum course, the presentation is sloppy and there is very little interaction or practice time.
Requires Adobe Flash. Big problem. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************.
I like the way you have to talk. I have been trying to learn spanish fore a few years now, and I can understand a lot.
But when it comes to talking i got stuck.
Now after almost finishing the first module I see that I can answer the questions in the lessons not only repeating, but building new sentences with other words.
I am confident that I will learn to speak.
Although I am making progress learning Spanish, the app has several bugs that have certainly affected my pace of learning. Missing translations/text are not uncommon. Sometimes it takes deleting and reinstalling the app to get it working. On some lessons it simply will not work no matter what action you take. Customer support has not been able to resolve the matter and I have decided that you get what you pay for. With the regular discounts offered as well as the supposed one-time price cut to entice you to buy all 3 level at the onset, I found the course fairly inexpensive. If the bugs ever get worked out, I would then consider this one of the best language courses available.
I dont like that the women speaks Spanish with an american accent.
I would like to learn correct pronunciation from natives, not american speaking with accent
