Hallo!
Hi I'm new here been learning for about 3 weeks now and I had a quick question:
in audio lesson 4.1 the following is said
Paul: Brauchst du irgendetwas?
Nik: Wir brauchen einen Sack Kartoffeln und Zwiebeln. Und du?
Paul: Eine Packung Mehl, Tomaten
My question is about the toss back:
Paul states do *YOU[/color:24kza794]* need anything
Nik follows with *WE[/color:24kza794] *need, as well as, and *YOU[/color:24kza794]*
I understand it's a bit different in German, but I don't remember any previous lessons like this (i could be wrong).
Would people actually speak this way? If asked in English you would say (I need......) or you would ask (Do we need anything else?) Of course then you wouldn't reply with (And you).
To be honest I've gone over the lessons quite a few times and I'm just now noticing that peculiarity, guess I've been caught up in all the learning. Ich lerne gerne. :D
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I forgot 1 last thing.
If it is common speech then can you give a brief explanation?
I've also gone through half the grammar guide so far during the learning process (the 1st 4 chapters) and it's not really something that is covered in a grammar guide.
The grammar guide is great but there are certain things that can only be understood through everyday speech
