Forum Rocket German German Grammar Is "Der" "that" in this sentence?

Is "Der" "that" in this sentence?

Grant-K1

Hi there, in this particular sentence, is "der" supposed to translate as "that" because it seems to me that it does. I've noticed in other sentences it does seem to translate as "that" which is confusing to me
Ich wohne leider nicht am Meer, aber die Gegend aus der ich komme ist trotzdem sehr schön.

( I unfortunately don't live by the sea, but the area I come from is still very nice) or something like that.

Hi Grant,

I have forwarded your suggestion to the support team and suggested this change:
"I Unfortunately don’t live by the sea, but the area that I come from is still very nice"

Thanks for picking that up!

Paul

You're very welcome Paul
