Können vs Könnten

I have just seen this sentence “Könnten Sie bitte ein Foto für mich Machen?”. Why is it written with “Könnten” instead of “Können”?

Können Sie is simple present tense, Könnten Sie is Konjuntiv 2 or subjunctive, you can Google that.
Basically it is more polite.

Hallo RexV und sfpugh,

I have edited an accidental extra "t" out of the first word in your post, sfpugh, but otherwise it's a perfect answer: you're exactly right! And thanks for sharing the resource - Reverso can be a super helpful site.

Tschüss!
