Syntax

Hello, was wondering if anybody can tell me if these sentences are gramatically in the right order as far as syntax goes? Does 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 both mean the same thing or is something being stressed more? I know that the language is a more flexible one and that when using weil the verb goes to the back of the bus. I also know about the second infinitive verb rule too but the stuff in between I'm not so sure about. Any responses would be much appreciated. Thanks 1. ...denn Ich kann nicht mit ihnen heute abend kommen. because I can not with you tonight come. 2. ...denn Ich kann heute abend mit ihnen nicht kommen. or because I can't come with you tonight. 3. ...weil Ich nicht mit ihnen heute abend kommen kann. 4. ...weil Ich heute abend mit ihnen nicht kommen kann.

Hello Kyle, Sorry for late reply. These sentences mean all the same. You used the second infinitive verb rule the right way. 1. ...denn heute abend kann ich nicht mit ihnen kommen. "Heute abend" was placed wrong and ich is uncapitalized unless it is placed at the start of a sentence. 2. ...denn ich kann heute abend nicht mit ihnen kommen. "Nicht" was in the wrong place. Other options: ...denn ich kann nicht mit ihnen kommen heute abend. 3. ...weil ich nicht mit ihnen kommen kann heute abend. "heute abend was in a wrong place" 4. ...weil ich heute abend nicht mit ihnen kommen kann. "nicht" was in the wrong place. I hope this helps! Paul
