I was doing an exercise in Survivla Kit level 2. Medical German. Was wondering how I was going to keep all the gender words in my memory. Further down the line I realized that because adjectives change at times due to gender and case, one can work out the gender. All bits count and at times there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I get very excited when this happens and begin to realize that it is beginning to form a bigger picture, although I still struggle with word order, some things just sound so weird. Having said that I think everyone feels like this no matter what language one is learning.

Hi Maxie,

that's awesome! Sounds like you're making great progress and everything is slowly falling together!

Viele Grüße,

Hi Julia

Thank you, the operative word is “slowly”.  But at least there is progress.

Wishing you a great time over this holiday season. Not sure who does and who doesn't celebrate Christmas. My family does, not in a religious sense, but we have a wonderful time. We are hoping for snow over Christmas, but unlikely. We don't get a lot of snow on Vancouver Island., But “ Es regnet im strommen” Just learnt that and “Affenhitze”  also something about a bucket, as in it is raining buckets. Coffee Break German has a season called “A Flavour of German” teaches colloquiol speech.

Sort sessions and I really like it

Keep well und nogmals danke

Hi Maxie,

Danke :) Happy holidays to you too! And progress is progress, no matter how small it is!

That's a great phrase and word to learn! Just a small note that it's “Es regnet in Strömen” where “Strömen” is capitalised.

Did you maybe mean “wie aus Eimern schütten” ("to come down in buckets")?

Frohe Weihnachten und ein frohes neues Jahr!

Hallo Julia

The phrase it is raining in buckets is,  “ Es Giesst (eszett) wie aus Eimern”

So very similar to the one you wrote.

Frohe Weinachten und ein frohes neues Jahr.

Es schneitt heute, es ist sehr kalt, aber wunderschoen (")
