Hi Paul What is the difference between würde and möchte to express future events?

Hey Shannon, "Würde" is "would". "Möchte" is "would like" or "want" depending on the context. "Ich würde um 12 uhr ankommen." I would arrive at 12 pm. "Ich möchte um 12 uhr ankommen." I would like to arrive at 12 pm. You can use both in the same way to express future events: würde (gerne) + infinitive, möchte + infinitive "Ich würde gerne Astronaut werden" and "Ich möchte Astronaut werden" is "I would like to be an astronaut one day". I hope this helps! Paul

Hi Paul, Thanks for the clarification. I have to say, though, that when I read the examples about becoming an astronaut one day I immediately heard the Rocket review theme in my head! Given your ties with Rocket German, wanting to be an astronaut seems like a fine ambition! :) Thanks for the information and the giggle! Shannon
