Im Zuge von vs. infolge

I have been looking up these two words:

1. 1. Im Zuge von
2. 2. Infolge

I have checked out both words with https://www.leo.org/german-english/. The first means “in the course of” and the other means “as a result of”.

Is it fair to say that both words are largely interchangeable?

Even though these two terms are quite similar, they're not exactly the same. You can think of im Zuge von as something that is done over the course of something else, for example:

Im Zuge der Hausrenovierung haben wir das Badezimmer vergrößert. - In the course of the house renovations we extended our bathroom. 

Infolge, on the other hand, may be translated as “as a result of” or “because of”, for example:

Infolge der Überschwemmung musste wir unser Haus renovieren. - As a result of the flooding we had to renovate our house.
