Hi Alida F,
That is a good question. I never noticed that. I looked it up on the web. According to the web article all the numbers in the thirties should be spelled with ßig at the end and not zig. That's not true for other numbers. Twenty, for example, is zwanzig. So, I'm pretty sure it is a mistake in the lesson. I have found a few typos and misspellings from time to time myself.
numbers ?

Hi Alida,
It is a spelling mistake in the lesson as Byron already mentioned. The thirties series is written with ß instead of z so it is einunddreißig, zweiundreißig etc. Thank you for mentioning this to us and apologies for the confusion.
Gruß
Paul

Well I guess I answered my own question Concerning Zig verses ß. I just knew there had to be an explanation because I've come to learn that The Germans have a reason for everything and it seems that it is not a mistake after all. After some research, here is the reason why. it's because of the old words like " Zwanzig" in old high German was high German " ZweinZig" for Now spelled Zwanzig The pronunciation and spelling is different. so my guess is that time to time we will find words that has been change from regional or Class to standard German in today's world.

Hi Guys,
Looks like the person that started this thread decided to delete the question and no links were included in the posts. So, anybody that reads this will have no idea what lesson you guys were talking about.

8) Byron is right. Only (30-39) dreißig-neununddreißig use the eszett character and are used everywhere like that (30th, 30, 130, 1030, 31st).

Wow, what an important comment. I don't know how I managed to get this far in German without knowing about the "dreißig-neununddreißig" numbers using the eszett character issue.
Perhaps, Rocket ought to add a major category to the Forum sections called "Classic Comment Archives," so we can easily see valuable info like Jason's excellent explanation here, which I only stumbled on by accident way down here in the ancient comments.
