Hi All

Doing the lesson on Red Tape. Oh my those words are sure tongue twisters. But a good grounding on those words. Came across  der geburstname, Maiden name. Also came across a translation 

Madchenname ("). My EU passport gives my maiden name and my married surname. My ID for Canada not so. They always call a senior official over to clarify.

Which word is more common in german?  Would I just say “ das ist mein Geburtsname”

der Geburtsname  is more common nowadays and also used for official documents. Even though der Mädchenname is a little outdated now,  people may still use it in everyday speech.
