One of the first questions that people ask when they meet someone new in a social context is what they do for a living. So if you plan to have conversations with people in Spanish, then you will need to brush up on your vocabulary of Spanish professions.

To ask someone about their line of work, you say ¿Cuál es tu trabajo/profesión? "What is your job / profession?" In response a person will say Soy un/una ____ "(I) am a ____".

Most professions in Spanish have a male and female equivalent, ending in o or a respectively. There are a couple of exceptions, which you will see in this list, try to spot them.
