It's a well organized website with interesting features that helped making learning more fun and interesting. I can say that the content is suitable for anyone looking to learn about japanease culture and language. The excercises are also good so learners must take their time practicing if they want to improve their mastery level.
Well, I would be happier if I could do it for free longer because I'm only 15 and I dont have any money to pay for it, but it has been extremely helpful in the lessons I can do. I can now say greetings (basic ones), and know that Atatakai is hot in japanese, which is good to know because if I go to Japan, I would like to know how to get a good, hot cup of coffee. So, overall, great for people who can actually pay for it, not for those who can't.
The course content is great, the design, layout and structure of the course is great. A lot of content, gets you to a good level of language ability if you study it correctly. The price is very high when you consider all of the free resources available though. I use the high price as a motivation to study, so that I'm not wasting my money, but it must dissuade so many others.
Nice conversation planned especially for beginner level .
I had actually done the Rocket Spanish and I was a bit disappointed with Rocket Japanese. I do not feel that there are enough lessons to get an understanding of the material. I also do not feel that verbs were covered enough.
Very nice, i enjoyed it alot. Keep up the good work.
I like how the course gives you instant ability to say full sentences, and doesn't just focus on vocabulary or grammar separately. Everything is integrated. The phrases are also very relevant and useful. I also enjoy the mix of culture and language that is taught.
There are some aspects of the course that I don't find as useful, such as the 'Write It' and 'Flashcard' components, only because I don't feel they are benefiting me and I feel they are sort of tedious and a chore. I like the quizzes and the ability to practice saying the phrases in the 'Know It' section.
I am just starting Rocket Japanese and so far I quite like it, with one exception so far. I decided to approach learning Japanese methodically and to try to master each concept before moving on. The problem is that in Module 1, there is a section on numbers, and it teaches numbers from 1 to 100,000,000. Obviously, there are patterns and generalizations one can make across the 10s, 100s, 1000s, etc, but there is a lot to learn here in one large gulp and now I have lost my momentum with the language learning. I feel the numbers should be introduced in smaller chunks so that one can progress with new vocabulary and grammar at the same time. I have been bogged down with number learning for days.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Laura, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that you've lost momentum. Learning a new language is a huge undertaking, especially a language with a completely different writing system like Japanese. The Level 1 course is aligned with the JLPT, meaning we are teaching the number basics including 百 and 万 in this level. We've kept the lesson light, with less than 50 phrases in the testing section. The numbers lessons for Levels 2 and 3 deal with more advanced concepts like counters. We've emailed you with some helpful tips for learning a new language which we hope will help you get the most out of your course. All the best!
the rōmaji on the flashcards is driving me away from using Rocket for Japanese.
just maddening to have in SETTINGS as OFF
In 1/5 of a lsdon, I can set English OFF but where i WANT it off, it is stck ON as a feature ?!?
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Robert, you can turn the romaji, kana and kanji on/off in the FlashCard settings at top right of the FlashCards themselves.
This is a good website\app to learn basic things about the language, but I have one question. Why does the tutorial audio not working on the japanese course
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Wyatt - I have emailed you to find out more about the audio issue you are experiencing. As far as we can tell everything is working as it should be.
