the rōmaji on the flashcards is driving me away from using Rocket for Japanese.
just maddening to have in SETTINGS as OFF
In 1/5 of a lsdon, I can set English OFF but where i WANT it off, it is stuck ON as a feature ?!?
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Robert, you can turn the romaji, kana and kanji on/off in the FlashCard settings at top right of the FlashCards themselves.

Overall, as someone who struggles to organise myself this course is perfect for me as the modules are very well structured and cover most aspects - listening, vocabulary, writing, grammar. I didn't purchase the course full price as there were discounts, making it even more worth it for the price especially as it is a lifetime subscription!
The classes are easy to follow and progressive, repetitions of vocabulary or grammar are very well incorporated in lessions so it's not annoying and it helps memorize better the information. The flashcards and other tools are also very helpful to complete the learning.
There are a few things I think can be improved though, like the application as it doesn't have some features that the browser version has (especially the saved vocabulary flash cards, which I personnally think are more useful on the go to revise). In the audio lessons, the dialogue transcript is in romanji which I think is good to start but it would be nice to have an option to change it to hiragana/kanji to get more used to it, or to slowly progressively get rid of the romanji as the lessons go on.

Thank you for your thorough review, Cami. It's amazing to hear how much you are enjoying Rocket Japanese and that it is perfectly suited to your learning style. Regarding your feedback, we are always working on improving the course, so this has been passed on to the development team. All the best with Rocket Japanese!
Plenty to learn. Some things I prefer to learn is a slightly different order
Currently using the trial version to see if its something I'd buy and yes it definitely is, though for the asking price even at a discount I am surprised at how buggy the podcast clip is (when i pause or try to skip back/forward the audio completely stops) and the notes tab needs a function to enlarge as there is wasted space and the box given is too small to see the notes properly forcing me to scroll up and down constantly to see what's written not to mention the scrolling does not break properly and skips note lines. Also do wish there was an option to use this offline other than downloading the podcasts, I see no need to be in browser constantly for this unless I was conversing with others online or keeping track of points.

Hi Adol - Thanks for your review. Regarding the audio issue, I am not sure whether you are using the app or a browser, so please contact customer support and they will sort you out! That is a good point re the Notes section, we will look into enlarging that area. And finally, with the iOS and Android apps you can download the tracks for offline use. You can also download the lessons themselves as PDFs.
I appreciate the lessons; I have also hired a tutor to assist me with the Japanese language. I would like to take a trip to Japan someday!!
I am really enjoying my Rocket Japanese experience so far. You all have really created a very well rounded system for learning a new language. I love the diversity of information and mediums of teaching.
Nice to meet you and I would like to say thank you very much that I can learn Japanese language through this site. I think it's suit for me as a beginner for learning a japanese language. COmpletely and easy to follow all instructions.
I really like this program, it helps me to learn everyday about how to talk in Japanese hopefully I'll do more of this program and maybe one day talk to someone who is studying the same language as I am.
I love this app! I chose this over duolingo, and here is why:
1).Duo always pressures you to do your lessons and even takes away your streak if you miss a day which is completely unfair. But with Rocket languages, you can miss a few days and it won't send you continuous messages to do it, as duolingo does. It will sometimes reset your streak, but it doesn't pop up in your face
2). Rocket languages doesn't only have text-to-speech lessons, but you can actually repeat what it says, and the AI will check your accuracy. Duolingo can't do that.
3). Instead of waiting to complete the overall course for each stage of talking the language you want to speak, you can choose if you are ready to start a new course or not WITHOUT having to complete a test.
That concludes my opinion of why I think rocket languages is more relieving than Duolingo. You can get the full learning experience and not have to worry about being pressured!

Great supplement to living and working in Japan and understanding the meaning of what I hear everyday! The material is practical and used every day, but may need other programs to learn the basics of the hiragana and katakana.
