I love the voice recognition, which allows my pronunciation to progress quickly! The videos demonstrating how to write out the characters have also been immensely helpful, I would definitely recommend this.
Rocket Languages is one of the best ways to learn a language in my opinion. I have tried Rosta Stone in the past but never could get the language down. Then I came across Rocket Languages and I love it. I am currently working on trying to understand Arabic and it still surprises me on what I have picked up with this program. Rocket Languages makes it easy.
I trialed the Rocket Arabic module and was impressed enough to purchase the premium package. The series has interesting audio lessons that are supplemented with exercises and pronunciation self-tests. I'm only interested in learning Arabic for travel purposes - I often visit the Middle East - and this works perfectly for that. The series does not include heavy grammar at the beginning but does include the letters and extensive vocabulary. The points goal is helpful to keep me motivated to study a bit of Arabic each day, which is essential for language learning. I also appreciate that it teaches Egyptian Arabic and not the much less useful (for the traveller, at least) Modern Standard Arabic.
My only gripe is that they do not have a Levantine Arabic version, but this is a tiny quibble and not in accordance with what most customers are looking for, so it's understandable.
I like the way learning is set up. It is nice that there is both a native Chinese speaker and someone else who learned Chinese speaking each phrase. Also, there is both a woman and man speaking the words so that helps with the learning. Once I finish Chinese, I may take on learning Spanish.
It is a good site for survival if you are moving to China but it doesn't teach you the traditional Chinese and it doesn't really help with reading and writing because the pinyin always gets in the way and the audio lessons feel kinda long during the parts for the pronunciation and I am from Taiwan so the simplified Chinese won't kina help (no offense).
Response from Rocket Languages
Welcome to our language-learning community! Our Rocket Chinese course is super comprehensive, and you can remove the pinyin in the settings.
I like this because know I can watch a Chinese drama and not having to worry about it having English subtitles. I also like the Korean rocket Korea, I would recommend this to a friend if I had one who was interested in Korean or Chinese.
Im loving the speech exercises. Too bad it's only a trial and it's quite short. Other apps also offer speech recognising exercises for free...
It's so fun and I enjoy learning from the app. Thx you so much now I am trying to become a foreign exchange student in china. It mean a lot to me that I can now feel more confident to travel outside the US and not feel like an outsider cause I don't know what your saying!
Rocket Languages definetly has all the tools you need to learn a language, however, you will definetly need to repeat each lesson multiple times and it's hard to use while exercising, cooking, etc. But if you commit to it and review each lesson several times you could definetly achiece fluency with Rocket Chinese. The conversational style and Rocket reviews really make Rocket Languages a great tool.
Just starting out but seems to have very good interaction and structure. Particularly like the voice recognition so you can have a, somewhat, proper conversation.
