Well I think that Rocket Languages should be all five stars. Duolingo actually only takes you to around B2 level, while someone can pass GCSE, IGCSE and their O Levels in French by completing Level 3. Level 1 is the A family (A1-2), Level 2 is the B family (B1-2), and Level 3 is the C family (C1-2). Honestly, this must be all five stars.
The training was simple and the layout was neat. Hand signs were clear and effective, a tip i would give is to make more available to those who may just want to learn more about the language or can not afford "premium" service.
I really enjoy using Rocket French. It is easy to use and they break down the learning for all levels. I found that by listening to it on my drive home really helps me speak it more fluently.
Merci!
I have just completed the trial and, although it is a shame that more advanced Portuguese lessons will not be available any time soon (if at all), I am going to buy the full access anyway. It seems good value for money, but I think I will finish the full course content quite quickly and probably still not be that fluent.
I got a subscription for Rocket Italian for Xmas 2012 and worked at it fairly consistently until we traveled to Italy in May. I was hesitant to speak Italian until we got into a situation where no-one spoke English and then surprised myself by being able to communicate with some farmers who sold us wine and olive oil. On another occasion I got so immersed in a conversation about some church architecture that I completely forgot myself and chatted for some time with a local man about 'domes'. My husband was totally impressed (he didn't know what we were talking about) and takes full credit for giving me the course as a gift.
Thank you rocket French! My husband Charles bought me my rocket French course and it has been a great learning experience. We travelled through New Brunswick, Quebec City and Montreal. I was proud to be able to read signs, directions, and engage in simple conversations.
I would strongly recommend the Rocket Languages Spanish course. The Interactive Audio lessons in particular are very useful, they cover interesting and relevant topics. The gradual increase in difficulty of the lessons as the course goes on meant that I had the feeling of making good solid progress, neither too slow nor too rushed. The other aspects of the course, such as the Language and Culture modules and the Rocket Record function, complement well the Interactive Audio lessons.
Very user friendly. I have just started to learn Arabic. I find this approach very handy. One can learn the language really quickly if one puts all his or her efforts into it. I highly recommend it for the beginners. It is easier for me as I know Urdu.
I've been searching for quite a while for an online Italian course and everyone single one I've found has been lacking in various areas. Rocket covers all bases of writing, reading, listening and speaking. Having this variation keeps you interested along with all the helpful tips and the gamification using points and streaks.
What would be great is if Rocket could add video to the overall experience. One thing that is always tough when learning a new language from home and not in the country you're learning about, is not being able to picture being there. Seeing Italy through videos and pictures really helps the imagination and inspiration to learn more about the Italian language and culture.
I moved to France without speaking a word of French and bought this program after reading some good reviews of it online. I've bought some other online resources but Rocket French is the only one I've ended up coming back to repeatedly for self-study. The dialogues are well done: I like the brief explanations of the vocab and the repetition is helpful without being tedious. I've actually been able to use the structures in real conversation here in France. The program has been improved a lot even since I bought it, and now you can practice what you learn in every possible format--- writing, reading, speaking, listening --- and the ability to download the audio is great if you want to listen to it in your car. Sometimes I listen to a dialogue several times before looking at the transcript and this helps me figure out how well my listening comprehension is coming along. I'm really happy with this program and recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining way to learn French.
