Rocket Languages review criteria
Rocket Languages has made learning Spanish much easier. I always wanted to learn a 2nd language and even took Spanish in high school, but Rocket Spanish incorporates the vocabulary, grammar, exercises and quizzes with the ability to hear the correct pronunciations from a native speaker. This is much better than learning the pronunciations from someone who has only visited a Spanish speaking country. I can definitely say that I have learned more with one course of Rocket Spanish than I did taking two courses in high school.
I love the weekly email to help you on your course. This is not a program where you pay your money and you are left hanging out to dry. As with any program, you get out of it what you put into it, but Rocket Spanish makes it fun for you to spend time in its programing.
it is a very nice app i would recommend it to any one who needs to improve
I've been using Rocket French and German for awhile now and both have been working really well for me. I would recommend the Rocket Languages website to friends looking to learn new languages through a user-friendly interface.
Very polished application. I like that you can learn at your own pace, and that you are learning Spanish used in everyday conversations. I also like how each lesson is framed into a real life scenario, this helps put me into a situation I feel would actually happen. The only takeaway is that I wish each lesson's test portion was longer/more challenging, but this is supplemented by the end-of-module comprehensive test. Overall, very pleased with the Rocket Spanish product.
Nothing "awesome" to say. I thought you wanted my honest, candid feedback. Still waiting for help on the problem of inserting special characters in the writing practice section of lessons. Rocket told me I must wait two to four days.
I get the impression Rocket also doesn't teach grammar either—at least not overtly. Disappointing.

Hi Bruce - The special character issue on Rocket French "Write it!" exercises has been resolved by adding in special keys for the French characters. Grammar is taught extensively in the Language and Culture lessons, did you see those? And, finally, if you decide that it's not for you then we have a 60 day full money back guarantee. Just contact customer support.
The Audio lessons are a great way to learn, the dialogues are very well done. And the voice recognition technology, while it needs some tweaks still, really helps practising to say difficult sounds and get the rhythm down.
Unfortunately, there are all kinds of mistakes in the Hindi lessons: inconsistent transcriptions, sentences attributed to a different translation, etc. This is something a good proofread could clear up, best by a native speaker, but even a non-native learner could help there. (Just ask if you need advice, i have some ideas.)
Finally, while it seems clear that formal grammar is not a priority (that's a fine choice), it should be reviewed by someone who understands grammar to avoid obvious errors that could lead to roadblocks once a learner eventually needs to take on the formal grammar points.
A completely worthwhile purchase overall! Bravo!

Hi Steve - Rocket Hindi has been under a review process for the last month and we hope to have the revamped version out within the next 2 months.
I hate to write this, but the English guide's strange midcentury Boston brahmin accent is so distracting that I cannot hear the Korean being spoken. Aside from the strange English, the phrases used for study are very long and not broken up into memorizable parts, and there is no option to not include the very long and unnecessary "extra vocab" from the audio in the flashcards and other study.
Overall this seems to be teaching canned phrases to be stored in short-term memory, rather than starting out small and forming a true understanding of the language for long-term learning. This might be good if you're visiting Korea for a short period and need to parrot some emergency phrases, but I may have to look elsewhere to actually learn to understand Korean. Pretty disappointed in how much money I spent.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Hannah, I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy aspects of Rocket Korean. Did you use the "Play it!" activities? They are designed to get you speaking Korean in conversations. If you turn off the voice recognition then you can "make up" conversations.
The system, so far, seems good, though I dislike the way it's presented (e.g., the often "cute" wording and the constant exclamation points).
But I truly resent the constant spam from Rocket Languages that began the moment I paid, and that continue despite my making every attempt to unsubscribe.
And I hate the high-pressure sales technique and the "snake oil" methods of pushing the product. I was hard pressed to buy the program with how it was being marketed, and only the generally very favorable reviews, and the money-back guarantee, made me overlook the insulting marketing.
An email to Rocket explaining these opinions remains unanswered at writing.

Fast, simple and practical, yet I feel after only one lesson I've learned a lot!
