This is a good way to teach people a new language, it requires you to actually speak the language and builds off what you learned, so you don't forget it.

It's a great way to learn a language with a real emphasis on speaking. You feel you are making progress quickly.

My product review should be understood in the context of a man in his 70s struggling to learn a new language. Before purchasing the premium version of Rocket French, I had used Duo, Babbel, and taken an introductory course at a local community college. Duo is easy enough, not demanding. It is a source of vocabulary, but one can put in many hours without confidence of using the words in speech. Babbel promised more interaction, but the speech sensitivity is seriously flawed. Otherwise the program is brisk and challenging. My college class showed that one's hearing in late retirement is unreliable, so keeping up with students less than ⅓ of my age was troubling.
Rocket French requires lots of oral practice, which the others lack. The tablet version of the program (I use a new iPad Pro with gobs of memory) has a problem similar to Babbel's, where the end of sentences are ignored. I can test this by just repeating the phrases that are missed and it translates those just fine. On my desktop iMac, the program works just fine.
Rocket French is more expensive than the other drills, and quite possibly less costly to create. I find that the method is engaging and leans more directly on the need to listen and speak. It has become my primary learning tool.

I've only been using Rocket French for 6 days, several hours per day, but I really like the balance of the approach so far. They don't give you too much to absorb at any one time, and they do a good job of going over it from different angles to aid your comprehension and retention. It's a casual, but effective approach. I've had no issues using Firefox, although the voice recognition isn't there, but I have no problems evaluating my own pronunciation by comparing it to the audio. I did have problems with Edge. Haven't used it with Safari yet.

Response from Rocket Languages

Hi Robert - Thanks for the feedback. The voice recognition system, Rocket Record, works on Chrome, Safari, and the iOS and Android apps!

I found the courses interactive! Better than using Duolingo for the first month as this helps me to build a base and interest in learning the language. But I kind of get to a plateau after finishing level 2, so I go to do the travelogue, which is quite fun. Though at the first half of travelogue, I found the story plot is like kind of missing something, luckily the later part improves a lot with more conversation. But it is frustrating that there isn't a all-merge dialogue that includes all the audios from previous lessons, like the review audio in level 1,2,3. So basically I can't go hand-free to listen back the dialogues that I have gone through while I am cooking, running ...etc. And the updated version of level 1,2,3 is putting away something I found very nice - that’s having the conversion dialogue at the end of the same lesson page, instead of putting them at the “all conversation” part. Hope these features can be added and improved. Thanks!

Hi, Mauricio
It Usman your long time student.

I am really impressed by the method of teaching and training your clients .

I wish I could have the opportunity to benefit more free lessons as I am not financially buoyant.

I also pray that someday I could benefit from this method of training and learn many languages.

I wish to ask or request if I can get some free lessons on Swahili language ?

I will also like that someday I meet and know the rocket language group God willing.

Response from Rocket Languages

Hi Noor Osmani - I am glad you are enjoying Rocket Languages. Unfortunately, we don't have any plans for a Swahili course!

Look, I understand that the French speak fast, but, you can't slow it down for people who are new to the language and are trying to learn? Let us understand the correct pronunciation and then we can increase the speed. I had to go to another source to grasp the correct pronunciation. Because of this, I strongly discourage anyone new to the French language from wasting their time on Rocket Languages.

Response from Rocket Languages

Hi there - The pronunciation in all of our Level 1 courses IS slower than native speakers. It can take some time to adjust to the rhythm of a new language so don't be disheartened if it is difficult to understand at first. Listening to a radio/podcast in the language is a good idea to speed up this process.
