I came to Rocket Japanese as a refugee from Duolingo. It is so good to use such a well thought out and "grown up" programme. I am especially pleased to have so much listening and speaking practice. I guess it would be very challenging to start as an absolute beginner; I'm glad I already know hiragana, katakana and a few kanji.
I indicated I would be likely to buy again because I didn't want to give a negative response, but it's a one off subscription so I don't need to, Great!
I've been using Rocket Japanese for 38 days.
I have now completed over 100 days and have to say I am even more pleased with the course now. In addition to the excellent course materials if you do have a query you get a very prompt and helpful reply. Very encouraging.
265 day update: I'm now finding the course quite challenging, which is a good thing. The language has become more complex. I like the way vocabulary and grammar you have already learned keeps cropping up again to help reiforce what I have learned.
Very immersive form of language learning - you can almost feel the words and phrases being pasted to the inside of your head! I am studying French. Over the years I've tried a number of ways to learn. This is the best
Although quite new to this program, already I have learned much more than from a competitor. The learning is fun, repetitive (which is much needed!) and the lessons are given in a variety of settings which helps to solidify what I'm learning. When I have found it necessary to contact Customer Service, I have been very happy with the quick, polite and thorough responses.
Rocket Languages is an awesome way to learn German or any language. It is light years ahead of the way I learned French at High School long ago.
In place of learning lists of words, you are given phrases to use so that you learn idioms rather than setting yourself up to use stilted expressions that don't accord with actual usage. You can still build your own vocabulary lists and export them to a file in your computer; and you can create your own notes to accompany these lists to gain understanding of how the words are used and case modified. I was offered .csv but would prefer .doc, but this is a minor matter.
The ability to download the initial conversational lessons is a great plus along with also being able to download .pdf files so that you can refresh yourself in these lessons again in a different context such as in your car.
Learning to say words, phrases and sentences from native speaking German tutors ensures that you learn to speak with a minimum of foreign accent, and the repetition with variations speeds the assimilation of the language. This experience is enhanced by your being able to record and re-record your rendition of a recording made for you by a tutor.
Learning spanish has been made really easy for me with the help of rocket spanish. I used to think i would have to go to a spanish school to learn the language but when i came across rocket spanish, it changed my ideology completely.
Gracias mucha guys.
So much learnt. Great. Thanks much.
Some pronunciations however can be very confusing. Is this Brazilian, not European, Portuguese?
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Thanks so much for your review, Thando. Rocket Portuguese teaches Brazilian Portuguese. We hope you continue to enjoy your language learning.
I started with Rosetta Stone , I got frustrated when they introduced words and sentences that you had no explanation of. This frustrated me to no end, then I looked at someones blog post that referred to this site and thank God cause this is amazing. I read in someones review posted on this site that you can't go back to listen to something you missed during the conversation. I'd like to set it straight that you can actually use the thing you plug into the computer that allows you to move the cursor on the screen and drag the round circle back to where you want to. You DONT have to finish the conversation to the end and and replay it. *Sigh* Anyway, I'm excited to learn Russian, I have 3 months to get what I can down pat and hopefully be able to carry on some basic conversation, with the parents :) Its great when you have beautiful motivation to keep you engaged in the lessons. Also the mobile app is amazing, I can go on walks and in the car listening to the conversations in full to review. Thanks Rocket Languages!!! I will definitely learn Spanish and then Japanese next if this goes well!
Awesome does not express how really really ausgezeichnet the program is. Every time I come back to the lessons, I learn something new. Each lesson provides practice in many different situations. The tests at the end of the lessons are a little too easy, but it works. Being able to add words to my vocabulary is also a great feature. I really enjoy the option to take the final exams. That gives me a very good idea of how I am progressing.
I've tried books, CDs and tapes. Rocket German is the easiest, fastest, most economical and fun! Once you get started the enthusiasm begins. Emails from Rocket German are very encouraging also! Don't waste your time or money on anything else. Rocket Languages is the by far the best language course you can use and by far the cheapest! I'm going to Germany next year and am very confident that I'll be speaking like the natives! I'm also blessed to have German friends here that I can practice with. They tell me "Du sprichst gut Deutsch!" Vielen Dank Rocket Languages!
I have just returned to Rocket German after a break of a few months and what a change for the better. As far as I can tell everything in both the Android app and the Windows version now functions flawlessly. I can take advantage of all the features and learning German with Rocket Languages has become a pleasure again. Rocket German is definitely my language learning programme of choice.
It really works too. I am currently visting Germany and can understand most of what is said. More surprisingly Germans even seem to understand me, which has not always been the case in the past. In fact I am so pleased that I am seriously considering trying the French version to see if it will help me brush up my very rusty French.
