Speaking a language without having some understanding of the culture could be dangerous. Rocket Languages does a good job of letting you know those small but big things about a language and its people. Fun and easy to follow course.

I tried many commercial self-learning languages in the market. But for Chinese, Rocket Chinese has it all! It's on-line, so it is at the same time a light and available from everywhere software. I can practice my Chinese with my work-PC, my personal laptop or my spouse's computer. It's simple perfect! The lessons are well guided and very encouraging when you see the progress you already made. Also, because you can compare you score with other's people score it is also encouraging to see that you are not alone. I love Rocket Chinese, I would never dream that someday I would learn Chinese.

Tried so many chinese language books in the market but can't still seem to grasp the Mandarin language, I have trouble particularly in the confusing tones. I'm just in the first 3 lessons but I can feel the competency of this module as compared to others.

I have learnt more Portuguese in 3 weeks than I learnt French after 5 years of formal didactic teaching in school. I am quite surprised by how eager I am to take the next lesson and also by how the badge system actually keeps me motivated. I would definitely recommend to this product to a friend or anyone looking to learn a new language!!

I highly recommend this program. It ingeniously utilizes audio, text, and quizzes to maximize your learning. Unlike other programs, it is designed for the human learning curve and teaches you the language that is ACTUALLY spoken rather than in theory correct. I am learning German and Spanish and I was surprised that Rocket Languages doesn't have a cookie-cutter approach like so many other programs do - the courses are drastically DIFFERENT! That's good because languages ARE different, and a cookie-cutter approach simply won't teach you anything. I feel closer to a native speaker now, with knowledge of not only the everyday version of the language, but also of the cultures. I've already recommend this program to two of my best friends, my aunt and my piano teacher, for French (did trials, but I have priorities), German and Spanish. Seriously, for this price ($100) it's a steal. Wait for post-registration sales (7 days usually, for $90 and free vocab cards), or Black Friday/Cyber Monday ($70, no vocab cards). But if you can't wait just by it at $100. You'll be happy.
