All in all the program is very good. I like that I am able to record my attempt at pronunciation and then hear it back. The scoring, on the other hand could use some fine tuning. I chose the role playing lessons and now that I'm using it, I don't think it is what I should have chosen. I believe I would do better starting at level one learning the basics of the language before trying to have a conversation.

Hi David, once you have finished listening to the audio tracks in your Audio Lessons, you should be able to complete the Role Playing activity without any issue. Make sure to listen to these tracks and you'll be amazed at how much you understand in the conversation. All the best!
While I am learning, I wouldn't use the prompted word, "awesome". The course relies heavily on voice recognition, which isn't entirely reliable. Also, there are a frustrating number of words or grammatical rules that appear in the practice phrases that weren't included in the lesson. Keeping a Google Translate window open helps with the vocabulary. I'm left to hope that the unexplained grammar will eventually be covered in a subsequent module...

Thank you for your feedback, Robert. Please contact us at [email protected], and we would be happy to look into the grammar rule you mentioned, provide more information, and assist you with voice recognition. I’ve been using Rocket French level 1 for several weeks now on an iPad. Though I think the format is very good in the way it introduces practical speaking without burdening with grammar, I am unhappy with the software itself. Trying to listen to a sentence that starts after skipping the 1st couple of words gets annoying, and the recording of my speech is too often very poor so that I have to repeat myself 3 times. This occurs on the app as well as on the website. I have contacted Rocket French, and though they are responsive, there has been no improvement, and there’s nothIng wrong with my iPad settings. I just think the software needs revision. I have started it and will continue, but I’m not sure I would recommend it.

Thank you for your review, Andrew! We're sorry to hear about these issues. As you mentioned, our friendly support staff have been assisting you via email, but to gain a clearer understanding of the problem, let's schedule a call with our IT team. As the designers of the voice recognition system, they'll be able to have a look at your settings and see what we can do to ensure everything is set up correctly!
I like the writing videos, but I find the spoken sentences too fast. I have also been using Linguaphone and Duolingo and Duolingo's option of having a slowed down speaking version is very helpful. Also I would have preferred a MSA version as I find the Egyption dialect difficult to adjust to.
I don't think I would recommend it over the alternatives.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thanks for your feedback, Roger. To slow down the audio, click on the settings cog in the top right corner and choose a slower speed. I hope that helps!
Using the free trial. At the moment it has me as a complete beginner so I'm not really seeing whether It will suit me when I need to learn things I don't already know. Sometimes the microphone doesn't seem to work when I'm speaking which is annoying. At the moment couldn't say whether it would be worth buying or not

I think the course is very good - I am learning quite a lot of things I hadn't understood previously. My only criticism is that in the 'flashcards' and the 'speaking' revision it never specifies whether to use the formal or informal forms for 'you' or 'we' (tu or vous and nous or on). I find this quite frustrating as I'm sure others do, it's hard enough learning a language without the negative effect of using the wrong form when answering the revision questions. It would be quite simple to signify which form to use: if you are to use the formal form just put an 'f' in brackets before or after the phrase, and then if there wasn't an 'f' people would then know to use the informal form.
Response from Rocket Languages
We're glad you're enjoying the course, Susan! In the top right-hand corner of each flashcard, you'll notice a gray notation that you can hover over with your mouse to access the information you're looking for. For example, a phrase that uses "tu" will be marked with an "S-I," indicating that the SINGULAR and INFORMAL "you" is required. You'll see these notations throughout the course. Best of luck with your French language learning!
As most people say the speech recognition, whether if I use a wired microphone, airpods or powerbeats, Rocket does not work consistently when speaking. My girlfriend got so frustrated that she went back to Duolingo. I am using chrome and it is up to date. Rocket is good but if you cannot practice speech then it is subpar. This problem is common in the the comments so why can't it be rectified???

Thanks for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We’re sorry the voice recognition hasn’t met expectations; we know how important speaking practice is. While it works well for many, some setups can affect performance. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can help troubleshoot and improve your experience.
Comprehensive but sometimes doesn't fit my learning style. What i liked, the new role play feature, speaking and the writing practice. What I don't like , the long and often tedious practice sessions (how many times do i have to say "Hola, Amy", especially for the grammer sections which could have more helpful learning examples rather than rote learning phrases. This is especially necessary for difficult topics like object pronouns. Vocab layout is not as good as Duolingo.
The dialogues are good, well explained and generally relevant. Overall its not bad but thinking of switching to an AI style of learning.

Hi Ken, thank you for taking the time to write us a review and leave your feedback. We've made sure to pass your feedback about the repetition to the development team.
So far the pace is overwhelming. I think I would retain more if the lessons were cut in half. Half the time with half the amount of new words. I am also finding some bad issues with the voice recognition. I'm considering going to something lower paced. I don't care if it takes me longer to finish a course. I'm not retaining enough at the pace.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for your honest feedback, Wayne. We understand that everyone learns at a different pace, and it’s important to feel comfortable with the amount of material in each lesson. You might find it helpful to break lessons into smaller chunks and review them as often as needed before moving on. We also appreciate your comments about voice recognition; please contact our support team at [email protected]. We'd be happy to see what we can do to help!
