The good about this program is it is very very targeted towards your listening and speaking. And you will notice your vocabulary and ease of vocal communication improving daily if you put the time in.
The bad news is you need an iron will to push yourself through it because it is SO BORING you'll seriously have a hard time staying awake.
If you can deal with listening, repeating out loud, listening, repeating out loud over and over and over and over again you will learn spanish from this course.
Only 1/2 of the lessons are audio lessons. the lessons that go more deeply into the grammar are all reading and self taught essentially which is VERY disappointing and certainly takes away from the overall value of the course.
So essentially, you teach yourself grammar, the course gives you vocabulary and go get yourself a prescription for methamphetamines so you can stay awake to get the lessons done.
I have tried literally every learning method under the son for learning spanish, I give this course overall 3/5. Effective material, but almost unbearably boring and not worth the full price.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts, Carter. We’re happy to hear that the listening and speaking components have supported your progress. We also appreciate your thoughts on lesson pacing and grammar content. While our approach may not suit every learning style, it’s designed to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to learning Spanish grammar.
I find the microphone goes haywire after a few of my responses. It will give strange responses or fails to respond at all.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thanks for sharing this with us, Lynda. We’re sorry the microphone has been inconsistent—that’s definitely not the experience we want for learners. If the issue persists, please reach out to support ([email protected]) so we can help get things running smoothly again. We appreciate you being part of the Rocket French community!
I really enjoy the lessons and the multiple ways the information is reinforced - listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
However, there are two major issues for me.
First, each lesson begins with a video tutorial. I have an audio processing disability - it's hard for me to comprehend spoken words in a conversation or tutorial. My learning style is reading/writing, so I really need to be able read the transcript of the tutorials. The lessons aren't an issue because the spoken parts are short - no more than a sentence at a time . And I can replay it as often as I need to.
Second, the top right has a leaderboard, daily points, and a streak. Even though I can progress at my own pace, the presence of these statistics sets a competitive undertone that makes it stressful. I realize a lot of people like that, but there should be an option to disable it for those who don't.
Response from Rocket Languages
We’re glad to hear that the lessons’ varied approaches are supporting your Spanish learning, Joe. We completely understand where you’re coming from, and our team is actively working on improving course accessibility. You should be able to find the audio transcripts directly below the audio player in the Audio Lessons. If you’re having any trouble accessing them, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team ([email protected]) for help. As for motivational features like the leaderboard, you can turn this off in your profile settings. And if anything else comes up—or if there are other features you feel would better support your learning—we’d love to hear your thoughts. We’re always open to suggestions.
You asked way too soon, I can't say just yet. Give me some more time

It would help, when attempting to pronounce these words, that the phonetic pronunciation was included. I believe that would help me a lot.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for the suggestion, Ronald! You’ll find a more phonetic breakdown of Spanish pronunciation in the first Rocket Spanish Language & Culture Lesson, which is located in the Intro Module. Keep up the great work!
The words stated don't always match what google translate states
Response from Rocket Languages
Our lessons are designed to teach natural, conversational language rather than literal translations. Naturally there will be some difference with Google Translate and other translation software, but our goal is to help learners use the language in real-world contexts. For those phrases where a literal translation is necessary, you will see one on the bottom right of the phrase indicated by "lit." We appreciate your understanding!
Voice recognition is not very good. Results are erratic.
Response from Rocket Languages
Sorry to hear that, Edward. Please reach out to our team at [email protected] with details about your device and browser, and we’ll be happy to investigate.
Emphasis on pronunciation is nice, but the voice recognition is utterly horrible. It only works about 40% of the time on the first go. I find myself just skipping it because it's so bad.
Response from Rocket Languages
We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with voice recognition. Please reach out to our support team at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help ensure everything is set up correctly.

Response from Rocket Languages
We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying Rocket Spanish! Wishing you all the best as you continue your language-learning journey.
The voice recognition in the edge browser is terrible. I have to repeat 3-4 times to get a valid input and it randomly pulls up words that can no way be attributed to what I am saying. I'm working in a quiet room on a brand new laptop, so there is no excuse for it.
Response from Rocket Languages
Sorry to hear that, Karl! For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome, although Edge should also be compatible. Please reach out to our team ([email protected]) and we’ll be happy to investigate this further with you.
