It is extremely difficult to find a good course for learning Japanese, or any non-european language in general online. Language courses are too often grammar rulebooks where you simply memorize the words. Rocket Languages, or at least the Japanese course is not at all like this. It provides a natural and intuitive learning structure that encourages you to listen and speak the language from an early stage. It is very well paced, so you come away from each lesson with a moderate understanding which you then build on throughout the course. I think this is a far better method than forcing you to know everything perfectly before moving on to the next part. When you do learn grammar, you have already used it in realistic sentences and heard it in conversations, so you have a feel of how it works. This also makes the learning process more enjoyable. Now the negatives. The 'Rocket Reinforcement activities' are great, but I find they are a bit repetitive after a while, I do wish there was more variety in the exercises. They do suggest good practices, such as using the language in books, video games, ect. but don't actually give any resources to do so yourself, something I have found other courses do much better.
I took the free course in Rocket Russian and I must say that taking just the free lessons I have learned how to say some important Russian phrases and I am able to speak those phrases just like a native speaker. Just a few days ago I didn't know even the first word in Russian. However just after a few lessons I can say several words. Rocket Russian has some great tutors that break each word down so that when you speak you can speak as if you have been speaking the language all of your life. I have noticed that the way they break down each word they are also training your ear to not just be able to speak the language but also hear what is being said. I plan on purchasing the complete course because I believe that Rocket Russian has much more to offer which is well worth the money. I have spent lots of money taking language courses in college in other languages but I didn't learn this much, this quick. I think Rocket Russian is an awesome way to learn a new language. I wish I had discovered this course long ago.
Very good course. Lots of content. Sometimes the solo speaking section is a bit redundant. Simulated dialogue would be most helpful.

Thank you for your feedback, Michael! In our early Rocket Spanish modules, we aim to keep things simple with plenty of practice opportunities so the phrases you're learning truly stick. If you're looking for something a bit more challenging, check out Rocket Spanish Play the Part—it's based on a variety of authentic conversations you might encounter if you lived in a Spanish-speaking country!
I'm very new to Rocket (only a few lessons in). I love the idea, and almost all the execution, think it's a great design - well-organized, relevant conversational topics, practical for likely real-life situations, and there's lots of opportunity to practice (recording, writing, quizzes, etc).
Overall happy!
I have to say though that having to listen to one of the 2 two teachers for the course speak Italian with a really strong American accent is super-annoying. I don't want to hear that, it's not helpful. (I have a hard time imagining what Rocket could have even been thinking there...)
All that said, I'm still glad to have it. I'm going to Rome in 4 mo for the first time, and I feel like this will give me a great foundation for very basic interactions, which always feels good.

Thanks so much for your review and feedback - it's much appreciated. We wanted to let you know that our level 2 and 3 courses, plus the Travelogue lessons, include only native speakers speaking Italian. We are hoping to update Level 1 at some point, as well, with a native speaker. I hope that helps. Have a great trip to Rome!
The learning process is orderly, and the instructors are engaging. Alex can be a bit wooden at times, but that is a minor issue. I need to go through the lessons again and again. Difficult to learn a new language as an older adult, but Rocket Italian is an excellent way to get started. The lessons provide plenty of opportunity to practice. You need to use the website and do the exercises. The audio is not enough for me. I like the daily point system which gives you a goal to strive for. The goal can be met with modest effort (not too little or too much is expected in a given day). I'm still in the first series. I feel I am improving, although iyou must trust the process to derive the benefits. Practice, practice, practice!
I like the way the lessons are made. There is a lot to learn. Thanks.
I love this course ! I wish if I got it for free

Hi Arohi, thank you for your review. It's great to hear that you are enjoying our Rocket Korean course. All the best with your Korean language learning!
es divertido y lo maravilloso es que se puede repetir cuantas veces sea necesario, hasta lograr la entonación que se requiere, sin que lo hagan sentir a uno mal. Creo que por fin lograré hablar otro idioma. Me siento animada.
So far so gut, need to check further lessons though as this is just the second on Module 1 Starter
I liked as much as I could cover in the free preview. It takes a lot of dedication to learn a language but rocket has good tools to help those who are interested. Having a monthly payment is a good option to have. If I want to continue to learn French, I would certainly think of coming back here as I liked the structure of the course very much.
