I will be travelling to China in August to study Mandarin and attend an immersion course for 4 weeks. I have just returned from my first-ever trip to China. For 6 months prior to my trip, the Rocket Chinese course helped me learn basic conversational skills that resulted in many compliments from tour guides, drivers, flight attendants, hotel personnel and other native speakers. I am inspired to continue my studies and return to China someday with a higher command of the language. Rocket Chinese offers very effective tools to achieve this.

I was somewhat reluctant to spend money on a Chinese language course as there are so many free resources available online. However, I decided to invest in Rocket Chinese so that I could follow a clear, structured course, to help me learn useful Chinese before I move to China to study later this year. I am so glad I did, as the course has been great. I love that I can download the audio lessons to practise when I have no internet access. I also like how each lesson contains not only the interactive audio, but also writing and speaking exercises, with the ability to record my speech and hear it back to compare it to the native speaker. I have already recommended Rocket Chinese to others who will be moving to study in China at the same time as myself.

So far I am really enjoying the Rocket program for Chinese. I think if I had chosen any other language to study my progress would be much faster, but with the Chinese I am going slowly because I am trying to learn the characters at the same time as the spoken language. So I don't proceed to the next lesson until I can comfortably write the characters. I learn the spoken phrases quickly, but the written characters come more slowly. It feels almost I am learning two languages at the same time. I don't know if I am supposed to concentrate so much on the writing, and maybe I should progress faster through the audio. I'm not even sure there is a right way to do it. But anyway, I am having fun with it, and I am glad I bought it.

Couldn't be happier with the Chinese course I recently bought. Only got it a few days ago, but I've sunk hours and hours into it... it's surprisingly engaging and I'm normally not so studious. And a big shout-out to Margaret, the CSR who helped me with an issue earlier. Honestly her customer service was the stimulus that brought me to the reviews page.

I have been a calligrapher of chinese brush for 10 years, and NOW I am learning the language! I knew that whatever I found had to fit my “not so beginner, but very beginner” status. Rocket Chinese does the trick! I really like learning the grammar this way. It isn’t so daunting.
