I am just completing the 2nd module of level 2 German. I did the beginners Rosetta beginners course and that has got me to the right level for Rocket level 2. I like the Rocket approach which I think works better than Rosetta would when things get a little more complicated as the Rosetta method is done without a single word of English in the course which can make it hard to work out what is going on if a simple picture isn’t enough.
The material covered looks appropriate for someone wanting to go and live in Germany so it has stuff about opening a bank account and renting a flat, but it would also be good for a tourist who wants to really experience Germany.
Customer service has been helpful if a little slow once I cottoned on to the fact that it is best to contact them via Help on the main site rather than help from the German dashboard help. But I have had very few problems so far.
I am loving this course so far! I have only just started but am remembering so much and I love the voice recognition. I had been learning German in a classroom setting for about three years but had to give it up over a year ago as it was getting too expensive. Even though I have a little (ein bisschen) understanding of the language, the first few chapters of the module have been great revision and I am learning things I had forgotten. The price is great (especially as I got the new year discount) and the fact that I get unlimited access is amazing - much cheaper than classroom lessons and I can do as much or as little as I want, when I want. So glad I found Rocket Languages.
Honestly it's a good way to learn a new language. The program carries on and reviews what the lesson before did; then it carries on and adds more to give you a great foundation to carry you a long way. Obviously study what you learned. Most importantly this program helps but without interaction with the German speaking world it's hard to maintain fluency. You need to skype with someone, speak with someone, or you need to go to Germany for sometime. Great program though.
Excellent interactive software. I wish this could have been available to me when studying languages previously. The interface makes it fun to learn and gives you motivation to push on for longer each day. I have recommended to a few friends now.
I have been learning German and I am happy with the results as I can understand some words now when I listen to German conversation or song. I only finished Module 1, so no a bad start. I highly recommend the Rocket school of learning a new language.
I've had Rocket German German since 2009, and think it's excellent.
Being able to sit on the train, listening to the German *and* English being spoken, often with interesting explanations, it's been really useful.
Excellent value for money, and I have recommended it to other ex-pats who, like me, have moved to Zurich.
I have been enjoying my Rocket Languages courses. They are a good blend of grammar, vocabulary, and speaking. In my opinion unless one tries to speak the language they are trying to learn not much progress will be made. This in my opinion is where Rocket Language courses shine! My goal is to be able to understand and to be able to speak German and French in a year. With Rocket Language courses I think this is possible!
I began studying German 2 years ago, going from the online course Linq to Michel Thomas' CDs (Total and Perfect courses), and now have come to Rocket German. These other courses offered a very good foundation, but I now look forward to quickly acquiring more of a spontaneous, conversational facility with the language. I'd strongly recommend Rocket courses to others.
