Nothing awesome about it. The speech recognition doesn't work half the time no matter how loud I say the word. Worst Italian online course I have tried.
Response from Rocket Languages
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the speech recognition feature, John. We understand how frustrating that must be, especially when you’re eager to practice speaking. Our team is continually working to improve the accuracy of this tool, and we’d love to help troubleshoot the issues you’re running into. If you reach out to our support team at [email protected], we’ll do our best to get things working smoothly for you.
The only thing I don't like is the American guy from the role playing and videos. I find his lines a little distracting, with the bad jokes. That might just be a matter of personal taste as I'm enjoying the content of the course, it would just be nice to be able to choose from some different options!
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jaime. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the course overall, even if some of the Audio lesson lines don’t quite match your taste. We really appreciate your perspective, and feedback like this helps us consider ways to make the content more flexible and enjoyable for all learners.
In the beginning I think I won't be able to learn the new vocabulary actively or even passively, but by the end I have it almost all down. The expressions with irregular verbs are well explained and illustrated. Lots of practice with different skills. My only complaint is the program's recognition glitches, usually with numerals.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for this thoughtful feedback! We're really happy to hear that the course is helping you move from uncertainty to confidence, Monika. We're sorry about the glitches you've encountered with numeral recognition; this issue tends to be specific to certain phrases. If you'd be willing to share some examples of when this happens, feel free to reach out to [email protected]. We appreciate your insights and wish you all the best with your Italian language learning!
Lessons are slow and don't progress in an order that works when you are studying a language -- customer service is non responsive to requests to cancel membership
Response from Rocket Languages

I have done a few other language platforms, but this is by far the best and most interactive. I'm very happy I came across Rocket Language! We plan on living in Italy a few months each year, and my kids are fired up to learn Italian!

Really well designed course (I have a Masters in Second Language Acquisition), and the material is really varied and enjoyable. The warm and clever personalities of the two hosts really carries me through the work!
Response from Rocket Languages
Thanks for your review, Shon! It's great to hear that you are finding the course enjoyable. All the best!
Customer service is N/A, as I didn't interact. I do have a recommendations... You should clarify the "formal" vs. "informal" use of "essere" and then label the "you" in phrases like "Di dove sei/siete/e?" accordingly. You could say, "Where are you (formal) from?" or "Where are you (plural) from?". It was confusing to answer and, more importantly, confusing to learn / understand the difference. Otherwise, great job!
Response from Rocket Languages
We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the course overall, K! We normally demarcate formality, plurality, and gender with notations you'll find on the top right of each relevant phrase in the testing activities. We're sorry this wasn't clear and appreciate your feedback on it—feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected] if anything else comes to mind. Keep up the great work!
It's an easy and fun way to get started in any new language or to review after you had a pause.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thanks, Lotta—keep up the great work!
