This started well, but the App was changes and now the microphone does not give any time to respond. Despite repeated requests to rectify the problem, nothing has changed. I am now forced to request my money back as the product is NOT fit for purpose.
Spend less time on trying to sell you products and more time on making them work!
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Ian - There has been a new release of both the Android and iOS apps, so hopefully any issues you have had are now taken care of. If not, please contact customer support!
I have barely learned anything. I do have ADHD but this system is absolutely terrible. It is too fast paced. I will listen to an audio lesson and it expects me to remember everything. I do not understand anything they are saying. This was a elective for my school and it has been a complete waste of money and time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Josiah. We're really sorry to hear that the course hasn’t worked well for you. Our program is designed to build understanding step by step, but it sounds like the pacing and structure didn't meet your needs. We truly value feedback like yours, as it helps us consider how to better support different learning styles. If you're open to it, we’d love to try and help or suggest alternative ways to use the course that might be a better fit. Please reach out to us at [email protected].
The microphone on the trial program worked fine until I purchased the Spanish 1-3, then the microphone stopped working. I loaded the program onto another device, the microphone worked, but the 'play' button did not work!
Very difficult to concentrate when there are so many technical difficulties with the program.

Hi Max, thank you for your review. We will look into this and see what can be done. All the best!
why are there at least 60 vocab words for every single lesson. how am I supposed to do this
Response from Rocket Languages
We know this may seem overwhelming at first, but the ethos of Rocket is to ensure you have all the information you need to fully comprehend the lesson in one place. The key is to break down the activities and lesson content into manageable chunks so you can truly retain what you're learning without getting bogged down by excessive information. For instance, you could split these into two sets of 30 and complete them over two days. If you would like more suggestions or assistance, you can always reach out to us at [email protected]. Best of luck with your journey to learn Spanish!
I am generally very happy with the spoken feedback and the quality of the instruction of Spanish.
Unfortunately often my mic fails to pick up my spoken answer correctly. I bought a special mic for my iPhone and I hope that the mic performance will improve.
However, I need to review and practice hard points such as writing with the correct accent marks. Doing the harder parts of lessons several times is helpful.
I am very pleased with being able to download lesson lectures. Then I can practice away from the computer. This is very helpful.
One problematic lesson:
In Module one of Rocket Spanish, there is one lesson that is poorly designed. Presently I am doing the alphabet. Why is there no spoken practice of the alphabet? Words are presented as a vocabulary list to be memorized. How useless. ! But there is no testing or practice of spelling which is the object of the lesson. This pointless presentation of the alphabet is unlike the quality of other lessons. I wish it could be redone.
Also, in this lesson it is argued that the alphabet is related to learning the correct pronunciation of Spanish.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Ellen - Thanks for the detailed review. As far as the alphabet not having voice recognition, this is because single letters do not work well with voice recognition. It always looks for a word or phrase, which would give mixed results. In saying that further down that page there are examples of each letter of the alphabet in use in common Spanish words. We will email you directly as it does seem strange that we haven't received or replied to your emails.
I tried the intro lesson, and it wasn't enjoyable. When practicing pronunciation, I would fail to pronounce a word, but I would get 100%. I have a good microphone, but I had to yell to get half of what was said recorded. When it did show, I said 100% the playback would only have recorded 50% of what I said. I was yelling most of the time, which was really irritating. I practiced writing skills without knowing special characters, so I got most of the words wrong, although I had all the necessary letters.
I absolutely hated yelling into the microphone and then hearing a partial version of what I had yelled. So far, I hate Rocket Spanish. I completed the lessons, and if not for the fact that I had heard many of the basic words in the past, I would not have remembered most of what I learned. Thankfully, I am on a trial. Thank you, Rocket, for the trial period. I will continue the trial one more time and then give Babbel a try, trusting their money-back guarantee..
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience; we're sorry to hear that the voice recognition feature was frustrating. We want learning to be effective and enjoyable, and it sounds like we fell short for you in this area. Your trial feedback is very helpful, and we appreciate you giving the course another chance. If you’d like help troubleshooting the microphone issues or learning the special characters, please feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected]. We're here to help and would love the opportunity to improve your experience.
Unfortunately I am one of the Rocket Languages failures. I spent my first few months doing what I believed the course asked me to do -- one lesson per day with extra study. After 4 months I had finished the first level of Spanish. I could say hello to folks, order a simple meal in a restaurant -- check in to a hotel, etc., but when I met with my Spanish speaking friends I could not understand what they were saying . So following the recommended learning path was not working for me.
I also noted that the course admins reward points as an indication of learning. Yet, in my case, I could not see any relationship between points and my knowledge of the material. Also a glaring weakness is that one can earn points by repeatedly answering the same questions. I found that I was memorizing the answers to all of the questions. I then thought if I could present the materials to myself in a different way, I could learn the materials better. I began pulling down many of the lessons at one time -- taking them into a little program I developed that would then present the material to me in various ways. My hope in doing this is that by so doing, I would more effectively learn the materials.
Response from Rocket Languages
The issue was not about whether or not you were trying to game the points the system. The issue was that it is impossible to get 50,000 points on a continuous daily basis without manipulating the system, which as you allude to in your review, you did. It's not fair to our other users to let that continue to happen.
Buggy on Ventura Safari, the most current MacOS and browser version.
Travelogue way too advanced and difficult to avoid.
Encountered user setup error that service and support quickly corrected.
So far greatly prefer Pimsleur and will likely invoke refund option.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi David, thank you for your review and we apologize for the problems that you are having with the program. We generally recommend using Chrome as a browser as it has the more powerful technology that our voice recognition software requires. Regarding your other points, we have sent you an email about all this.
