I don't want to write a review at this time because I'm having difficulty taking the course because of technical issues.
I am in the present in contact with technical support to resolve my issue. My issue is this: When I hear a Spanish word or phrase that I am to repeat using the little mike icon, it doesn't give me near enough time to complete the word before cutting out. So, the other icon comes up and say "please try again". I am very frustrated with this issue. I hope technical support can fix this.
This issue just started up this week. Otherwise, I really like the course overall, and plan to continue as soon as my issue is fixed.

Hi Henry. We are endeavoring to get in touch with you via email so that we can set up a Skype call to walk through the issues.
Rocket Spanish is fun and you are able to go at your own pace. Just with using it for only a few minutes I have learned how to greet someone. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to learn a new language.
I like using rocket languages because there is a clear format & it's easy to follow. Some lessons are a little more jam packed than others but I like how they introduce each new subject. It's has a good mixture of listening, speaking, & writing. Only thing I'd want improved is more functionality on the app so that I can self study (saving flashcards from lessons to add to a larger flashcard set, when the app is listening to me saying things out loud it can be a little buggy). But overall I like the density & structure this app provides that I can do on my laptop, phone, or iPad!

It's so great to hear how much you enjoy Rocket Spanish and that you are finding the lessons easy to follow. We appreciate your suggestions as we are always aiming to make the program better. We have passed these on to the Development team. Keep up the great work!
I've taken several college level Spanish courses and learned words and conjugations but very little speaking and that is my weakness. I started with the first lesson on Rocket, and I found the hearing, speaking, and reading along with immediate reinforcement has really helped my ability to communicate in Spanish. I've just finished the first section of level 1 and my confidence has improved.
Well, this is not awesome, actually. Just a couple of things.
1) First of all I am very pleased with the product overall. I don't have much to compare it to as it is the first time I have purchased a language program. But I did sign up for trial periods for several and I thought Rocket was the best overall. So I am pleased.
2) However, I acted too quickly to purchase during my trial period because only 2 days after making my purchase the product went on sale. I called customer service twice (never got to talk to a real person either time) and had to leave a message as there was no one to answer the phone. I wanted to see if I could get the sale price. To this day I still have not gotten a call back. So...kinda disappointed in the customer service actually. Maybe next time I won't act so quickly. : /
The lessons are very straight forward and the testing methodology really drives the lessons home. You can practice and hear you own voice lined up against the instructor. This is very help as I often believe that I have spoken a word correctly only to find out what I hear recorded is much different than the original.
Do what the lessons say. Excellent. Engage with the audio part of the exercises and DO REPEAT what you are unfamiliar with even if it takes a few days and try to speak it in the real world. In Los Angeles it is easy.
I got this course because it was one of the few affordable programs that asked for a one time fee instead of a subscription. It has been really useful for learning Spanish. In a week I have learned greetings, how to ask for names, and how to ask for things. I still have to go back to previous lessons and review again and again so that I don't forget words as I move forward. The recordings of the conversations and the flashcards are the best since it's great to hear what people actually sound like when they say these words. The thing I'm most reassured by is that the things I've been learning will be immediately useful in normal conversation. Sometimes when I'm out and about I've heard some of the words I've learned in lessons 1.1-1.3 and I don't even live near a lot of Spanish speaking people!
I was astonished by the sexism and gender stereotypes, there were even lessons about the nativity. I wanted to share these lessons with my partner, who is more advanced than me, but I was too embarrassed, and some lessons were unlistenable for me, due to these problems.
Also, the lessons themselves tend to just ask you to repeat what you have heard, and only occasionally challenge the listener to take what they've learned in the lesson an actually apply it to make new sentences.
On a positive note I was pleased that the instructors would often add multiple ways of saying things.

Hi Nicholas - Thanks for your feedback, and we will take that onboard at our annual review of course content. Certainly the stereotyping is an issue we are looking at, even though a lot of these attitudes are still prevalent in South American culture. As is Christianity, hence the nativity lessons.
I've only had the program for a week. So far I'm enjoying it. I wish they could add podcasts like Duolingo has. I haven't used customer services so I really can't comment to that. But the sign up was easy.
