The grading system is all over the place. They have a colour coded system that is meant to reflect proficiency but it patently doesn't correspond with any of the lessons. I completed all the modules available, everything was correct but the colour coded system gave me 1 green tick and 4 yellow symbols. It makes no sense.
I asked for an explanation for this but the response made little sense too.
I think somewhere in the Rocket system is a great app waiting to break out but it is currently too cumbersome which is a pity.
They ask users to write something awesome, they are assuming people think the app is awesome when it isn't yet.
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Mark - Thanks for the feedback. The app has been completely updated as of 2019, so any glitchy behavior is hopefully sorted out!
I especially like the dialogue format, dismantling its parts, then putting all together. It is helping fix phrases in my mind that I used to have to piece together mechanically. I am hoping that this will lead to more fluid conversational skill. This is going beyond simple listening comprehension.
I gave the price a 3 star because I had to go online to find a coupon code that provided me 60% off the original price. I gave the customer service a 3 star for neutral since I haven't needed to call a C.S.R. yet
This course really works. I find the French phrases from the lesson automatically drift into my mind while doing a workout at the gym or driving. I took an immersion French class years ago in college, which was great for a few days but then a nightmare, as I could not visualize the words without seeing them and the translations. Rocket French allows the words to sink in, with its combination of auditory first and then great reviews and games. Pimsleur is similar, and I believe a great course too, but it is twice the money. The Rocket speakers are more fun, and they teach more vocabulary—so much that I need to go over each lesson two or three times to get it all. It’s worth it, as after only one week I am dreaming in French. Drawback: I can’t play the lesson on my smartphone without being online, and Rocket gobbled up all my minutes in a couple of days. Does anyone know how to download it so it can play offline?
It's really good and you can learn a lot. It is great if you're busy because you can download the lessons to listen to while you drive, cook, clean and more. I've tried a lot of different sites and books and none of them have such amazing lessons and pronunciation help. I highly recommend.
Very helpful lessons. Not too long to listen to the audio part. I don't really care for the written part since I'm not going to be writing in French. I just need to learn conversational French. Some things are not relevant like learning "Welcome to the first lesson." I've already forgotten that.
The very special method which is used by Rocket language is so amazing that not only you won't be tired, but also you will be persuaded to learn more and more each day and that's what makes this program unique.
I'm learning French course by using Rocket language and as an international student who is living in France I can tell that I'm using 100% of the material that I've learned through the course in each day of my staying here from doing some errands to book a whole trip and asking for an advice from a local person.
subscribing to this program was one the best decision that I've made so far, Thanks Rocket Language.
The French course is really great for a beginner with limited knowledge such as myself! After the trial I bought all 3 levels and I'm not disappointed! I've tried Duolingo, Rosetta, Podcasts and a lot of other apps and they all have their pros and cons. I think Rocket French stands out in so many ways for me - (1) the material is very relevant from Day 1. (2) The grammar lessons are easy to understand and not too intensive/repetitive. (3) the'holistic' focus on learning the language (covers writing, speaking etc) (4) the engaging content which keeps the lessons interesting (5) and lifetime access. Overall, I think this course is worth every penny!
Rocket Languages is an excellent way to learn a language . It opens you up to how you can pronounce the language through following the tutor. I enjoy the bit where you have to write because it is a good practice to know the words and how to pronounce them. I also like the flash cards because they enable you to pronounce and get to hear if you are doing it properly. My favorite is the quiz because it gives me the opportunity to show that I understand what I have been learning. I like Rocket Languages to an extend that I will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone willing to try it. I enjoy it when it also corrects spelling to show you where you went wrong right away.
I think these Rocket courses have the right methodology. I've used them to learn German and French, and I felt how my listening proficiency and vocabulary went up pretty quickly. I don't use much the extra hearing, speaking and vocabulary games that are at the end of each lesson, but listening to the main audio lessons and doing the Rocket Reviews has been enough for me.
