I have just finished my Free Trial. During this period, I also tried several other competitor free trials, and used all of the comparing the similarities and differences. *Rosetta Stone was easily dismissed as I did not think they did well with phrase translations, but only focused on the single word. * There were a couple others, that were just too expensive, so that was an easy "No". * Spanishpod101 was very similar to RocketSpanish, but did not have the progress dashboard, and quite frankly, they had more unnecessary humor and comments in some of their dialogs that were not relative to the language learning. * Rocket Spanish was more geared to the learner. They keep encouraging routine practice, and the dashboard monitors your progress. Breaking down words into exact pronunciation has really helped me, and I only had the free trial !!! In summary, Rocket Spanish, in my opinion was the best language course for me at the best price. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Special Thanks to Margaret G. at Rocket Spanish Customer Support for answering all my questions and really REALLY helping me out :-)
Hello. I was born in the United States so my first language is English. Currently I’m extremely fluent in Spanish and Italian. I’ll elaborate on that later. I retired in 2008. In December of 2009 it was decided to purchase Rocket Spanish for myself as a Christmas present. Only Premium, Premium Plus and Platinum were available at that time so all 3 levels were purchased. I had no prior language training during life and no experience talking to others in any language except English. Rocket Spanish was downloaded to an iPod as part of my New Year resolution. I practiced most days while exercising and repeating everything aloud. Everything was finished multiple times that was contained in the Premium or first level in March. The entire level was basically memorized from repeating it so many times. The beginning of April 2010 I went to Panama on vacation for 3 weeks by myself. I didn’t get an interpreter and just went for it and made my way around much of the country by myself taking local bus transportation. The reality was for 4 days I was like “aaaaa”, then suddenly my brain said oh apparently you’re serious and started working without any problem speaking the Spanish I learned in the Premium course.
I'm very pleased with my decision to learn Spanish, and Rocket Languages has been the best language learning software I've used so far (I've also used Rosetta Stone & Pimsleur). !
I'm impressed by Rocket Languages: I'm learning much more than I thought was possible online and having a good deal of fun. It's pedagogically-savvy (more so than other language-learning products) because it uses a variety of learning methods. I plan on using Rocket to learn my next language.
I love it! Makes learning a language fun and enjoyable. I was very hesitante to go with the program. But found it to be better than Rosetta stone and others out there. Not only are you able to learn new language, but you are able to pratice them in different ways. Each section has games, quizzes, spelling tests, speaking tests and more than enable you to learn the language. And you can do it at your own pace. Plus since you can get an online version it can be done from anywhere you can get internet!
Probably the best language tool I've come across. Actually love it more than Rosetta Stone and Duolingo. I will definitely be paying for the full product.
The 6 day free preview is a blast to field languages to see if they will work for you. I strongly recommend everyone consider the ASL which is not what I typically expect to find in language courses. Full immersion with video only. Great for hearing and hard of hearing who are lip readers.
Tempted to overload with multiple languages (looked at Korean. After one look I have a far better understanding of written Korean)
Absolutely worth it!
Being married to a German, and working for a German company, I have the pleasure of traveling to Germany for 2 weeks (or more) every year. For years, I tried to learn enough German to not embarrass myself while visiting.
After trying to teach myself with free online websites, I decided I wanted to learn bad enough to spend some money on a quality product, so I tried Rosetta Stone. Man, I kick myself every day for wasting my money on that crap. There are no rules, and nothing is ever explained, so I found myself more confused and frustrated than ever. Admittedly, I learned a few words and phrases, but never enough to confidently put together a real conversation. I mean, how often do you say "The boy runs" or "The man sleeps" in everyday conversation? I finished the whole first section, and could not hold an everyday conversation with my wife.
Next, I tried the Pimsleur Approach. This was 100 times more useful than Rosetta Stone (but still on the pricey side). However, since it's all audio, you don't get to see the words and phrases that you're learning and, to me, that is helpful. Also, the whole first lesson is basically learning phrases for business travel.
Brilliant! This course is so well designed that you simply cannot fail if you follow the steps. It has been the single greatest approach I've found for learning Spanish easily. Mauricio, Amy and Carmen are super helpful. It's been a good investment.
Great interactive program .. already know a lot of Spanish, but always lacked to one-on-one conversation interaction when I am not in Latin America and need to practice. On occasion, the speaker is too fast it seems, but is only in a few instances. The writing of the words is also a great addition -- I have to text a lot in Spanish and have always been a little tentative about my spelling or having to go to Google Translate to make sure I had it right. With the Rocket Spanish program, it re-enforces my spelling, accents, and word order / tenses. Overall was just the program I needed. Overall A+
I just LOVE my Rocket French courses. I purchased the complete CD packages (Rocket French 1, 2, 3) and listen to them over and over in the car. This is a no- hassle, no-pressure, easy and relaxed way to learn another language. A great language learning system!
