I love love love this program, best online experience, despite my faulty internet connections (rural property!!!) Easy to make progress as we can repeat and listen to ourselves throughout each level...testing is reinforcing and being able to write, read and speak is perfect. Thank you.
The Rocket Language program is great. I used their Chinese and Japanese courses before traveling. I'm now working with their Spanish program. Their conversations introduce useful conversational vocabulary and the supplemental grammar and culture lessons are valuable. I'm really impressed by their user forums which discuss a wide range of topics - I've appreciated the discussions around how words are used in different contexts.
I'm from Italy, born into a family that speaks Italian. My family raised me to speak English, and so I've never learned Italian. I've always been interested in my ancestry and wanted to learn more. Though my English isn't the best, and I know a lot of Italian, this site really helps me learn more of the language. I recommend it to anyone with the desire to learn the Italian language.
I was very satisfied with Rocket French Intermediate, so I purchased the Travelogue. Unfortunately, the Travelogue was highly disappointing. It is of very limited value as a language learning tool, and its interest as a cultural document was modest at best. I can't imagine wanting to go through it more than once. Additionally, it is poorly recorded or edited, with the French dialogue for some reason sounding muffled. After a good initial experience with Rocket French, this course has soured me on the program.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Bruce - I am sorry to hear your feedback. We have though just added in full French translations for every part of the Travelogues, as well as full recordings of the Travelogue scripts, so they now work very much like the Interactive Audio lessons from Levels 1-3.
Rocket French is my 7th language purchased. I have been practicing five of them daily since June, which are Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Hindi. I studied French in high school and in college, but that was quite a while ago. I considered taking an in-person class, and although I accepted I would have to start over again, ultimately decided it made more sense to buy Rocket French, because that would allow me to re-learn at my own pace, since I wasn't an absolute beginner. The courses are a great deal, and something I really look forward to at the end of the day. Having the Current Streak measurement is the single most important feature. The site is very interactive, and you can mix up what you do according to where your energy is that day. Tracking your progress is very easy. Finally, I like how the voice actors, or people who create each language program, seem to make the arrangement of the stories and lessons a bit different from the other languages. It makes the experience seem more real, even though it is all online. I am so grateful that Rocket Language exists!!!
I guess for emerging technology, it is not too bad. But the speaking section is extremely frustrating. I was shouting my phrases and was advised "no speech detected". Very frustrating. But overall, I'm keen to continue for the moment.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing, Bryan. If you could contact us at [email protected], we’d be glad to assist you, as this error message is probably due to a configuration issue in your settings rather than the voice recognition itself. All the best!
love it! Makes learning a language fun and enjoyable. I was very hesitate to go with the program. But found it to be better than Rosetta stone and others out there. Not only are you able to learn new language, but you are able to practice them in different ways...
(Japanese, Level 1 review) Methodically located somewhere between Pimsleur, YesJapan/Japanese From Zero and Japanesepod101, Rocket Japanese provides a strong, content-rich guided learning experience that can serve as a backbone to any serious self-learning effort. Of all the programs I have tried (including Rosetta Stone, Textfugu, WaniKani, Living Language, the Genki textbooks and those mentioned above), this is certainly the most comprehensive and challenging from the start.
Conversation exercises, which are at the core of the program, are very well executed and the speech recognition system ensures that there is a degree of accountability here. For auditive learners such as myself, these work just as well if not better than Pimsleur, which is an old but effective way to memorize phrases and gain some initial conversational skills.
The main weakness of Rocket Japanese comes in the lack of a spaced repetition system. I STRONGLY advise learners to use an external flashcard software (such as Anki) or analogue flashcards for their vocab learning. Since actually creating flashcards is in itself good practice, however, I wouldn't deduct any points for this given the overall strong showing on display.
Took the plunge and bought the complete package after a couple of days of trying the free course. The price is good when you put it against classes, though the classes do help with one on one conversation. Before I started the courseI had some very, and I mean very, basic Italian and struggled with general conversation now, even after less than a month I feel my usage has improved. I have used Duolingo, and still do, it was useful for me and helped me when I moved to Rocket Italian. I am thoroughly enjoying the Rocket Italian Course - finished two modules and looking forward to much more. There are some minor quirks with the technology but nothing to throw me off the course. Sometimes after doing the test the completed doesn't activate and I need to exit to lessons then resume test again and do the one item that the system thinks I haven't done. I use it across three platforms, Android Phone, IPad and Windows 10 laptop, which is great as I have access wherever I am and what I have done seems to sync well across the platforms. The interface works well and I find it very easy to use and navigate. The course Material itself is good and even after using duolingo and also some other programs I find I am learning constantly with this course. The badges are great little motivators, though I do think they come a little easy. I definitely recommend the program.
Overall I have enjoyed Rocket Korean. The one small thing that I have to complain about is how we take the self assessment quizzes on a lesson and have to know how to say introductory sentences said by the "teachers" such as knowing how to say "Our first lesson is on greetings", when it can be frustrating to someone who is just starting in section 1.1.
