Rocket Languages review criteria
You should try as many resources as possible when learning a new language. Prior to Rocket Languages, I consulted a textbook, Rosetta Stone software, and Pimsleur audio lessons. The Rocket Languages program is the most balanced approach, when it comes to learning styles.
Textbook
+ Index and dictionary
+ Many opportunities for explanation and background information
- Very linear
- Not immersive
Rosetta Stone
+ The most vocabulary
+ Visual reinforcement through images
+ Very slick interface
- No English
- No explanations
- Images are bad at expressing multiple ideas
- Images are bad at expressing time and use of tenses
- The grading scale is unhelpful
Audible
+ Efficient explanations
+ Easy progression in small steps
+ Lots of repetition
- The reading lessons are tacked on at the end
- Poor exposure to the written word
- Poor explanation of tenses
Rocket Languages
+ Listening, Reading, and Speaking functionality is strongly integrated
+ High quality audio
+ PDF handouts and downloads make it easy to learn away from the computer
+ Curriculum offers multiple definitions, when appropriate
- The progression is a little fast
- Needs more repetition within the audio lessons
- Maybe pair the audio lessons with a slideshow for visual reinforcement?
Rocket Languages is the best value, when compared to other learning solutions. I will go to Rocket Languages first when I try my next language.
I really think the system is great. Personally I have tried lots of courses before and for me it's the combination that really convinces me to stick to the course. In the moment I do the Russian course and even though it bothered me to write everything I learnt I realize how beneficial it is. Also the flashcards are nice, even though I prefer Anki. Anyway, it's a great deal for the price and I will stick to Russian and also go for another language. The weekly e-mails I get could be improved, maybe someone listens and makes them responsive. It's really hard to read them on a mobile phone.
Rocket Sign Language has given me greater enthusiasm to gauge myself for further knowledge and experience. It has laid to rest some of the doubts I had with respects to enhancing my fingerspelling.

Hey guys I totally recommend this website to you.
THIS WEBSITE WILL MAKE YOU BECOME FRENCH MASTER IN 5 MINUTES.
I was pleasantly surprised by Rocket Japanese, I had tried other language learning websites before. But, none of them gave me the feeling of control that Rocket Japanese gives. With this website I can choose what I want to learn: when, for how long, and how much I want to cover. I think anyone serious about Rocket Japanese should at least give it a try.
Rocket French is by far the best home study learning package i have ever owned, and i have tried many! The many and varied applications within the course means that one never gets bored with this learning experience. I really feel for the first time that i have a chance to really speak another language. well done Rocket French
Rocket Hindi is a great help to those who wish to quickly learn the language despite not having much time to devote to the study, what has been learned is extremely helpful in the everyday working life.
It's a little simplistic at times - I like to delve further into grammar to understand why a phrase is as it is rather than just learning it by rote - but the practice has definitely made a difference to my understanding and it's good to have some structure to my learning , living in an area where I can't access any physical classes. The speaking and writing practice are most useful, and give me something I absolutely can't get from the more advanced text book I use in tandem with Rocket Hindi. I would consider signing up for another language if my financial situation improved - it's decent value for money.
presentation and content of lessons are easy to follow. keeping it simple is the key to comprehending and understanding each lesson . i am very pleased
I would like to learn Korean on my different devices, Mac, iPad and MS Surface, but I have no clue, how the program remembers how far I had already advanced on one device, when I continue with another. There is apparently no way to log in with my ID and Password, so that the program knows who I am. This feature probably exist, but it is difficult to find out where and how.
Note from Rocket Languages: Hi Jac, thanks for your feedback. Someone of our customer support team has reached out to you to solve this issue. All the best with your Korean learning! Your Rocket Languages Team
