I have been having much more success with this as compared to something like Duolingo and it isn't nearly as expensive as something like Talk to Me in Korean. Plus, Kelly, Sujeon, and Taewoo are all very engaging and work hard to make sure that everything they are saying is understood.

I would say the only sticking point I have is that some of the phrases we're expected to learn take a sharp turn into being very difficult both in pronunciation and just memory. I recognize that that is just part and parcel when it comes to learning this kind of stuff - but it's pretty frustrating when I go from learning things like "Annyeonghaseyo" to trying to memorize a phrase about serving in the Korean military.

I don't think it's bad to include them in the lessons, but making them part of core vocab just throws me off sometimes. Like, let me finish the basics first, you know?

Response from Rocket Languages

Hi Wyatt - I have emailed you to find out more about the audio issue you are experiencing. As far as we can tell everything is working as it should be.

I used Pimsleur courses before. This is equally as good, but I am using exclusively in a car. The Pimsleur is better in a car as the lessons automatically come on to the next lesson and the program keeps track of where you are and Apple CarPlay controls work better than Rockets. The arocketvwoukd be better if it were seamless to a CarPlay experience. Also the review words should keep repeating in several lessons to make it easier to remember, rather than only one review time in the following lesson. Multiple repeats help sear it in my brain. For these reasons, Pimsleur works better for me.

Moderators Note: Thanks for the feedback, Ivan. You can use Rocket courses in a similar way by using the iOS app, downloading the Interactive Audio lessons to your app for offline usage, and then playing those sequentially. I hope that helps. All the best from the Rocket Languages team.

the lessons are really, but I would prefer more time left in the intro to repeat the sentence after Claire, instead of that time used to make "jokes" by Martin

I started with Rocket German several years ago but somehow got lost in the shuffle of time and situations. I have re-opened my account and find a completely new format so will have to browse the site extensively to feel comfortable but it looks very interesting and seems to have great potential. Thank you.

I use the audio lessons most. Haven't ever down loaded the documents. Too huge. Wish it was in book form and came with the program. I would have paid a little extra for that option I also like the girl. It is easier to understand her when she speaks spanish as she is not as fast as the native speakers.

I'm very happy with the format and tools provided. It's always good to approach learning from multiple angle, and super important in language learning to have conversations. Rocket is providing all these things. The one thing I don't like is that the early lessons are teaching the "familiar" form of you, and not teaching the "formal" at all. I'm learning for the sake of speaking to my father's caregiver, and I know she prefers Usted. I've also gotten horrible stares when I accidentally used familiar conjugation when trying to practice Spanish with Spanish speaking acquaintances. I know there are places that don't use the formal, but in places that do, I believe survival Spanish (ordering from a menu, etc) would be much better used with the formal, which is always respectful with people you don't know. And would be understood as meaning to be respectful even in places it's not commonly used.

Response from Rocket Languages

Thanks so much for your review. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the Rocket teaching method! As for formal vs. informal forms of address in our lessons, we do start out with informal conversations in the first few Interactive Audio lessons, but if you keep going, you will find formal conversations as well, as early as Lesson 1.4! And if you're looking specifically to practice ordering formally in a restaurant or at a bakery, you can find conversations on those topics in Module 4. You can also find both the formal and informal forms being taught right from the very beginning in our Language & Culture lessons. I hope that this is helpful!

I am pretty happy with the whole experience, although I haven't used the program as much as I intended. Wish I had more time! A well thought out and fairly comprehensive approach to solo language learning. I shall be renewing my subscription for sure. Perhaps a section for HSK Exams could be a useful addition for those of us going down that path, just a thought. In summary, my overall user experience is a very positive one.

Its my first day to learn. I have bit background to this language. Now just familiarization and to continue learning the language more. Learning here through audio and written is satisfying. I would love to finish my free tutorial for a week. And hope to have the tutorial for more months. So exciting! Gracias Rocket Spanish Online for the tutorial.
