So far I am really enjoying the Rocket program for Chinese. I think if I had chosen any other language to study my progress would be much faster, but with the Chinese I am going slowly because I am trying to learn the characters at the same time as the spoken language. So I don't proceed to the next lesson until I can comfortably write the characters. I learn the spoken phrases quickly, but the written characters come more slowly. It feels almost I am learning two languages at the same time. I don't know if I am supposed to concentrate so much on the writing, and maybe I should progress faster through the audio. I'm not even sure there is a right way to do it. But anyway, I am having fun with it, and I am glad I bought it.
I am taking the French course but I find the man talks way too much in English with annoying 'jokes'. Sorry but listening to him makes it difficult for me to continue and I loose interest. Over half the lessons are in translated English or him talking. The price for the course is good and I haven't had to use customer service to comment.

Hi Natalie - The beginner (Level 1) course does have a reasonable amount of English as things need to be explained! In the higher levels there is less English. If you wish to swap levels then please let us know!
I love this program, you get so much material for a great price. I use Rocket Spanish in combination with Pimsleur Spanish. And im having great success. If you give this program a month you will surely be able to speak and understand basic conversations. In my opinion no one Spanish program will completely make you fluent, but this is a good start.
I am satisfied with the service and I have a suggestion what can be improved further. I like the idea of a comprehensive course available at any time. What I miss is downloadable audios - not the dialogues, but the phrases. The phrases are extremely important and helpful in learning a language. I could easily skip dialogues (I don't), let alone those long 25-minute audios with lots of talk in English (enjoyable but mostly waste of time to be honest, too much of unnecessary chatter). So far I have been sitting in front of my monitor for hours to learn the language, staying focused which is a key to learning. But this is such a luxury which you only enjoy in rare periods during your annual cycle. Most of the time you end up downprioritising the language course due to other urgences. I could use recorded phrases - all of them in a lesson or, even better, those I mark with a star for my own collection which also is a nice service - to listen to them while I have no time to sit down at my desk.
Rocket Languages is very helpful to learn Russian, and has many step by step courses that help in advancing my knowledge of Russian slowly and effectively. I like how in the beginning, there are not too many hard words to pronounce but as you go along it advances. I also like how it can correct how you pronounce words which helps a lot in knowing if I am saying the word(s) right or not. And if I'm having trouble with some words I can practice with those words in writing, speaking, quizzes, and more which is a good help. The only downside is that when they tell you how to pronounce words they can speak a little too fast, and I would like it better if the word(s) would be pronounced slowly by the speaker so it is easier to catch along so that I have a better pronunciation.
I have always been interested in Italian culture, and I thought while I am still young, I want to pursue my dream of speaking the language. I searched through the internet both on forums, reddit, youtube etc. and ended up purchasing all levels of the Italian course. I haven't been doing too many lessons, but so far satisfied with the courses. Especially the chemistry within the two teachers is entertaining :)
Terrible experience with the Rocket Languages. I have been struggling to find a motivation to keep studying but the boring experience that the platform gives you doesn't lead you anywhere. It's just a bunch of "repeat" this, "repeat "that" that you will be closing the browser before finishing the audio lesson. Not only that, the lack of explanation that the teachers give you and makes you need to find other places to learn it's absurd. If I knew this experience would go on, I would have chosen Google Translator instead. If I could come back, I wouldn't buy.

Hi Vitor - Well, repetition is an integral part of language learning :) We try hard to keep our courses engaging and minimize the effort required through things liked spaced repetition to help with effective learning.
It's like a classroom setting that focuses most on the important parts of a language. Yes, knowing the word is important, but being able to ask for it is more helpful in communication. Rocket Languages is great to get you conversational ASAP, without bogging you down with grammar that can come with time.
I decided to try Rocket German more or less a week ago, and I absolutely loved it. I tried some other methods (Pages, apps or books) but none of them were really helping me to learn and I was losing my time. Now I'm enjoying the way they teach, the simplicity of the lessons and I just want to continue studying more and more everytime. Let's see how far this goes. I also think that in some time from now, if I felt excellent with the program, I will buy also Rocket French
If you’re planning to travel, I can see that it would be helpful to carry a conversation. I think the testing is a good idea. I like the Flashcards. However, this program just doesn’t meet my learning needs.
