Thirty years ago, I used Pimsleur tapes purchased by my employer and local university continuing education classes that they paid for. I did obtain sufficient fluency at the time which worked well traveling to Mexico. But, "use it or lose it" caught up to me. I want to regain where I was and go further. With Spanish podcasts, other Internet options and Spanish cable channels, "using it so as not to lose it" is more available. And, I now have some "locals" who I know that have Spanish as their first language or, are like me, and "don't want to lose it" again. We meet every week to have coffee or tea and to chat with each other. It is a great way to meet new people and to bring people together! Finally, en español, "Deseo hacer un viaje a Ecuador y las islas de Galapagos, y tambien, un viaje a Costa Rica con "Habitat for Humanity". Me gustaria hablar en su lengua."

After only six Spanish lessons I happened to drive past a beer garden in a small town in Texas. There was a sign in the front that had a hand drawn humorous quip written in Spanish. I knew what it said! There was no stopping and mentally translating. I just read it and understood!

This is the core of the software and how you learn. With over 65 audio lessons it's really the backbone of it. This is the section of the site you will be in the majority of your time. Basically, you are given a dialogue between two or three people and you are supposed to listen to it and read along out loud. I actually really like how they do this vs Rosetta Stone or other programs because it gets you speaking the language really quick. It also gives you words in their context which shows how they are used and where they are put in a sentence.

After you have listened to the dialogue a couple times, you are then supposed to practice using the “Rocket Record” function. You simply record yourself and compare it with the native speakers accent. You are also given the ability to role play in the dialogue — meaning one person in the audio is taken out and you speak those parts instead.

My native language is Russian. I studied English at the institute, Finnish in various courses and on my own. I have used and still use both languages ​​at work. Spanish has been a dream of mine for many years after my vacation in Mexico. I started taking a fully paid Spanish course, but after the first lesson I stopped attending, as it turned out to be completely unsuitable for me. After that, I studied on my own and for 3 months on a paid course on the Internet. Now I have started taking this course and I am very pleased with the teaching methodology. How much time and effort I would have saved if I had studied English and Finnish using a method like Rocket Spanish !!! I hope that with the help of Rocket Spanish I will make my dream come true. Rocket Spanish is the best language learning system that I have used. I went through 2 years of Spanish in high school and 3 semesters in college. And I have learned more in Rocket Spanish I than all those others combined. Not only can I retain the information but I am more comfortable speaking Spanish because I can hear the proper pronunciations through the audio lessons.
The price of this system is amazing... less than $100 is a bargain for unlimited use of Rocket Spanish. Much better than the competitors at less than half the cost. I wish this system was available 20 years ago.
I am very happy I purchased this course and plan on purchasing upper levels in the near future. A+++++++++++

I would like first of all to comment on Bill Landman's review of two days ago. I am not yet up to Level 9 (only at Level 5), but I have had no trouble with pronunciation being recognized thus far, so I jumped ahead to Lesson 9.11 to see if Mr. Landman's remarks would be confirmed. As it turned out, however, I had no trouble at all achieving a 100% rating in pronunciation on everything, with Record Difficulty set to "Hard." Thus, whatever problem Mr. Landman experienced does not seem to be with Rocket Spanish itself. Perhaps his microphone was not clear, or its output level was too low (or something) that day.

I have been very satisfied with Rocket Spanish. Although I'm only on Level 5, I have been using Rocket Spanish for several months (not with great regularity, obviously, or I'd be farther along). I had previously gone through at least 3 different CD courses, one of which I thought was excellent. However, CD courses are not interactive, of course. Nor did even the best one go to as high a level as Rocket Spanish.

Having learned French, so, Greek and Mandarin elsewhere, I think Rocket Languages as a language learning pack is fantastic (I’m learning Spanish now)!! The audio lessons are great and well planned to ensure you are building on your knowledge and use of words previously used while introducing new content. The additional writing exercises, verbal tests and quizzes mean you can learn more than just speaking and they assist in the repetition required to learn a language. Fantastic!

Have been trying for years to learn Spanish (even at Open University), but have never found a method of study that manages to capture the style of learning that both holds my interest and allows me to progress quite quickly. Rocket Spanish is quite costly, but on the plus side it is downloadable and you have membership for life including upgrades. It has definitely reinvigorated my desire to master this new language, and for the first time I believe that it may actually be achievable.

I started Spanish with another well known language product. After two months I knew a lot of words, but couldn't put enough together to make a sentence. After a short time with Rocket Languages I can actually speak and understand a few phrases. Great program!
