It's a slow process, but. I am learning, little by little.
I got to the Spanish Interactive Audio Lesson 1.6 and I give up. The Rocket Record is terrible. I have a headset with a microphone (I'm not using my computer's built-in mic) and I have problems with the transcriptions about 40% of the time - and, believe it or not, it's not me. I live in Spain and I'm often told that my pronunciation is very good. Incredibly frustrating. Also, in the exercises, they'll ask you what is the Spanish for, say, "doctor" but they don't tell you if they want masculine or feminine. There are a number of spelling mistakes as well: such as when there's no accent mark where there should be an accent mark. And I love you Amy but, boy, are you annoying. The audio lessons are much too long and could easily be shortened if Amy would just get to the point. Finally, a note to Maurice: no means NO. If you ask someone if you can take her photo and she says no, drop it and move on. If you ask a woman for her phone number and she politely demurs, as Amy did, back off. You're creeping me out, man!

Hi Steven - Thanks for submitting a review. Are you mainly using the course on Safari? or the iOS app? There haven't been any reports of voice recognition problems that I know of, but we would like to get to the bottom of what's causing your issues in case it affects other people as well. Please send as much detail as you can to customer support. With regards the masc/fem notation; we have only been notating when it is the feminine version, as otherwise the amount of notations would be enormous. Also, right now we are in the middle of a comprehensive review of Rocket Spanish, and things like the accent marks and spelling mistakes are being (re)proofed as we speak. All of the Interactive Audio lessons have been done, and right now the Language & Culture lessons are being looked at. And, yes, Amy can be a little polarizing! Unfortunately Amy and Mauricio now live in different countries, so re-recording some of the more macho style conversations is going to be a bit tricky. We are aware that these days a small amount of the content is verging on inappropriate, and we are trying to formulate a plan to sort it out in the odd places that it occurs.
A very fun program. I had a tech problem and the customer service people were very responsive, patient and kind with me when it was actually my network causing the problem. You get an almost immediate sense of self accomplishment with this program as you hear a phrase and respond to it and your confidence skyrockets as you realize, Hey! I'm speaking French!
Great Spanish course! I appreciate the ability to move at my own pace. Spanish courses in high school were adversely affected by students who were not motivated to learn Spanish. As a result, it was an inefficient use of time. It also required my attendance miles from where I lived. My Spanish classes from Rocket Languages are mostly in my living room and they are conducted whenever I decide class should be in session. The software for Rocket Language Spanish is also effective on my iPhone and I found the phone version to be very user friendly.
In college, the Spanish classes moved too fast, and frankly, I never could catch up. I never had time to go back and sufficiently learn a topic as "the class" was moving at the speed that the professor determined was necessary. That speed was always faster than what I could handle. With Rocket Language Spanish, I can pause the pace of a chapter and stay on a topic which I am having difficulty with, such as a pronunciation, and then when I am satisfied I have grasped the topic as best as I can, I can then return to complete the rest of the chapter. Fantastic! You can't do that in a group class.
I also enjoy the constant (and repeatable) mini phonetic prompts that accompany all lessons.
Rocket Spanish is something awesome. I often notice that while studying, I am tired. Even though I am tired, I am still studying. I don't quit when I get tired, but only when I am completely exhausted. Just when I think it is easy it begins to challenge me. I like the combination of recording my voice to compare with a native speaker and writing the response to what I am hearing all in the same place. In addition, each time I am able to access my current ability with each individual response. It is super.
I bought Rocket Spanish a long while ago and it is truly great. I have been so busy and not too diligent about my lessons so what I REALLY like and appreciate is that I keep getting mails and lessons to encourage me which keeps me from giving up completely. The whole concept is wonderful and you truly learn words from the very first lesson. I have and will always highly recommend Rocket Languages. Thank you for not giving up on me.
have not been satisfied with the program, the lady speaks so slow its hard to follow

I have been learning Spanish for quite some time now, but was looking for something to help advance my talking and listening skills. I had considered Rosetta Stone, but that received mixed reviews. Impartial websites consistently gave great reviews for Rocket Spanish, and I can see why. It is quite pricey compared to some language courses (I think it was about £90 all in). That, however, is a fraction of the cost of Rosetta Stone, which doesn't let you keep your learning material after the year is up. With Rocket Languages, you get a lifetime of access to materials. There is an audio conversation at the start which introduces you to new words and phrases at a reasonable rate, then there are tests ranging from listen and repeat to listen and write. I like how you can "speak" to the characters by taking on the part of others and then listen to your conversation at the end. It is good to know how you sound when you speak Spanish. This is the best language course I have ever used and I don't hesistate to recommend it.
I have been working with the free trial for over a month, and even using it every day, there was a lot of free material given to really get a "feel" for the course. I have fallen in love with it, and just purchased the Premium Package today. For me, speaking and understanding are my weakest points, and in my opinion, this is where Rocket Language outshines every other program. Those "live" role-playing exercises are intense, and really give me a rush when I can successfully get through even the level one part of the conversation.
My only issue is having to use Chrome, I was on Chrome when I tried to purchase the package, and it kept screwing up my information, I finally had to go over to Safari and purchase it there, then go through switching the program to Chrome - it was irritating.
However, that is a minor complaint concerning the purchase and log-in process and has nothing to do with the amazing content Rocket has to offer.
Also, I have to add, while I was having hassles with the login, I called customer support and they are absolutely amazing! No robots, I got to a real person right away who fixed the issue immediately, was nice and funny and very friendly.
Te amo Rocket. But I don't like that my review has to be more than 200 characters. Brevity es mi amigo. Soy de los Estados Unidos. No hablas espanol. You hablo ingles. Mauricio habla espanol. Gracias. El gusto es mio.
