Ciao tutti a Rocket Italian! I have been enjoying the course for a couple of weeks now. It's really helping my listening and speaking skills. I like the way it's based on conversations - this is very useful. and I also find the grammar explanations very good.
I can't wait to try it all out on my next visit to Italy.
Grazie e a presto!
Judith

Hello. This is the first review I'm writing, only because Rocket Spanish seems like an extremely effective app for learning languages. Specifically, I am talking about Spanish, although these points probably apply to the other languages, especially its structure. It's structure is very appealing and attractive, and the way you learn through sets of audio, flash cards, quizzes, which test your overall knowledge, is very simple and concise. I highly recommend giving the free version a try, to see if it's for you, although it might not work for everyone, it's layout is intuitive and easy to navigate, and the learning system is very efficient. There is only one minor issue, and that is the audio system. Talking generally works and it can read your voice very well. But sometimes, for more complex words that require more pronunciations, it can read your voice wrongly. Overall, I think Rocket Spanish specifically is an amazing tool for learning Spanish! Keep up the work, Rock Language!

Thanks, Derek; we couldn't have put it better ourselves! It's fantastic to hear that the course structure is helping you progress with your Spanish language learning. So far so good. I like the diversity of approaches - grammar, vocabulary, cards, writing what you hear, speaking... The voice recognition is an important part of the course and is great when it works. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the time it does not - on random occasions it can not detect any sound. And I am not sure what to say about the customer service, I don't know how to access that feature.

the learning is good but the price is unnecessary.

love this lesson(s) and I am working on those pesky RRRRR's
Response from Rocket Languages
It's great to hear you're loving the lessons, Jerome! We know that mastering the trill pronunciation can be a bit tricky. If you ever need any tips or tricks, don't hesitate to post on the forum and get some advice from our wonderful Rocket Spanish community. Keep up the amazing work!
I think Rocket Languages is great! I love the way it integrates real life conversations with grammar in a way which makes language learning fun, interactive and productive. I also love how at the end of each lesson there is an option to practice the vocabulary using different modes (listening, writing, speaking). This not only allows you to memorise the words but practicing in this way also trains your ear to be able to write unknown Italian words without needing to be told how to spell them. I only started learning Italian about a month ago but I already feel like I've made so much progress and the great thing is I enjoy it too!
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you, Emily! We're delighted to hear about the progress you've made learning Italian in just a month. We love having you in our community of language learners and can't wait to see where this journey takes you!
I have liked the program so far but here are my main criticisms:
First, the pacing. I wouldn't say I like having 5 audio lessons consecutively and then 5 language and culture lessons in a row. I prefer to have one audio and one language and culture lesson each time. I also wish these two types of lessons were more related and interconnected. they seem so disjointed and irrelevant right now.
I also wish that there was some sort of spaced repetition feature for reviewing previously learned vocabulary and materials. Therefore I have to manually make flashcards in another program (Anki) for this which is a little cumbersome than having them readily available.
I would like to see some new features for exercising the learned vocabulary and grammar instead of just repeating the limited number of sentences in each lesson and requiring the students to form and come up with new sentences.

Thank you, Mohammad! You've raised some great points! We have a testing activity called the Rocket Certification tests in the Tools area for revisiting covered content. The course is divided into different lesson types for flexibility, so there's no fixed way to progress through it. You can switch between lesson types as you see fit! We understand the need for a stronger connection between Language and Culture, and Audio lessons, and we're working on incorporating this into our newer courses. We always value user feedback, so if you'd like to discuss anything in more detail, feel free to contact us at [email protected]!
I am in the last (7th) Module of Level 1.
Generally, I like the course because it is very structured and explains language concepts very well. I like that there are dedicated grammar lessons that clearly concentrate on building your grammar foundations. A complete opposite of Duo Linguo which has no grammar explanations at all.
Some people find the humor in the course stale but I have no issue with it (not great but not bad either, tolerable).
The course does a pretty bad job in all flashcards and speaking (translation) excercises when the "you" word needs to be translated into German (translates to one of "du", "ihr", "Sie"). None of them are commented so you just make frustrating mistakes. There should be clear hints what is expected there.
The lessons are generally very long (often takes an hour to finish) which is not great. I think they should be broken up to smaller lessons that are no longer than 30 minutes. Due to the long time required to finish a lesson, I often cannot finish one during a single day and can only do the remaining part next day.
The Android app has been rewritten since I started the course and it is much better now (huge improvement there, congrats to the devs).
The price is also very hefty for the course. The ~250 EUR I paid should be some family package with 4-6 members (with separate progress tracking). An advertisement supported version would also be appreciated.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank for taking the time to share your thoughts on the course; it's great to hear that you generally enjoy the course.
Regarding the flashcards and speaking exercises, there will be a notation visible to use as hints for you to know which version of the word "you" to use. We recognize that some lessons can be long but that is because we pride ourselves on comprehensiveness, the lessons will always save your place in them if you choose to leave and come back at a later date.
We hope you continue to get the most out of your Rocket German course.
